Paleoart and bad decisions. Commissions open currently in my ammonite era cephalopod enjoyer he/him
Joined January 2021
Some late Cretaceous ammonites bask near the oceans surface. This art was made for the fantastic paper released by @JoeFlanSan in @NatureComms .
Delighted to see our work on ammonoid diversification out today in Nat Comms, along with some stunning artwork by @CPursall for the press releases. We know that diversity varied around the globe, so the drivers of diversity must also have shown similar spatial variation 1/n.

@JakeDoesMemes @JermSansContext Jerma has entered that Tommy Cooper level where he could die on stream and decompose for two weeks and people would still think it's a bit.

@Caimanspectacle I posted this in the comments to show it was human made but apparently that wasn't enough rip

Coexistence isn't always harmonious.
YOU! PALEOARTIST!. Show me your art of dinosaurs and people coexisting. (Can be any other prehistoric animal. Can be mounts, pets, an animals that farmers like having around because it helps the ecosystem, or the more realistic dinosaurs hunting humans in spec evo)

Ancient Kraken - Weighing over a tonne with a shell up to 3.5m in diameter, Parapuzosia seppenradensis is the largest invertebrate to have ever lived. Had great fun modelling this in blender! #paleoart #ammonites #paleontology #digitalart

@jonkenstonk I would, but I get some incredibly helpful criticism from the people who don't see the [ART] tag and analyse it like its a genuine cryptid photo. They're rude and smug but the critique does come in handy for future pieces.

A young Tylosaurus makes a miscalculation in prey choice. A Parapuzosia this big won't let itself become an easy meal. #ammonites #paleoart

@mocndu @DurpTurdle Imagine being so unrelentingly homophobic you can't even suppress it to talk about video games.

@Valdevia_Art It's also got a weird guilt trip energy to it, as if you are in the wrong for making art that can induce challenging emotions.

@VoicesByZane I've had it happen on one of my art posts before. It's just to stop the blue checks panicking when they see something that requires any critical thinking.

@hubbzjunkman The juxtaposition between our relatives and the abstractions we associate ourselves with. Or something.

@babyfatherBBF @The_Wub_ Because twitter decided Waititi was cringe after Thor 4 so people want to dunk on his other films to look cool.

This same image is 4th on google images for "trilobite embedded in rock". 5 of the first 10 results are AI. This may not have been intentional but it's still damning that a trilobite researcher didn't vet the image better. Especially with so many other better available options.
Our new paper uses Bayesian astrochronology to date the origin of trilobites with extreme precision. Read it here:

New year, new job, new house and the first of many new ammonites. Maximites is the smallest known genus of ammonite. This tiny carboniferous cephalopod grew to only 10mm in diameter. #paleoart #palaeoart #paleontology #ammonites #cephalopods #Blender3d #digitalart #squid

This year's #ammonites . In 2023 I'm planning to make a new ammonite a month. If any cephalopod connoisseurs want to hit me with their favourite ammonites and extant cephalopods it would be much appreciated for inspiration. #paleoart #cephalopods #squid #octopus #blender #kraken

@basalisk120 Thank you so much! I'm so glad people are liking the cookiecutter bites, they were a fun challenge to get looking right.

@MartinFinnbarr It's all made in blender, I sculpted the Hydrotherosaurus and then made the scene using megascans materials and some of my own models. Then I used @photopeacom (in browser free photoshop clone, can't recommend it enough) to edit in the fisherman.

@rocksolidfossil This is an art piece by Huang Yong Ping who has made other giant snake skeleton pieces. Why is this account posting so much misinfo an AI shlock lately?. Just use the smithsonian model if you want to show titanoboas scale

I know Tuna are huge but seeing one next to a basking shark broke my brain a little.
Basking Shark 🦈 vs Bluefin Tuna 🐟. Exclusive for #worldbaskingsharkday a 🧵 . A world’s first moment from this summer. We captured this amazing event, where a bluefin tuna attacked a basking shark for around 20min. Check out the drone footage 👇 /1

Nice argument, however I have already depicted you as the weaker, unflanged orangutan and myself as the wise flanged Maurice.
Raka's lack of flanges (cheek pads) compared to Maurice indicates that he was living in proximity to a sexually dominant flanged male. Female orangutans prefer mating with flanged males, and unflanged males will not grow flanges in the presence of a male who already has them

@SonFrankUchiha @cockknot Sex is part of the human experience, it's going to be portrayed in media and is essential for certain stories.

@Sweetemmilyn @wormwrangler666 @john_m_b @EvoIutlon The sun doesn't overcome entropy. It introduces energy into the ecosystem. In the wider context of the universe the sun will eventually expand and and succumb to entropy. Evolution doesn't violate thermodynamics.
