I'm Adam and I'm a freelance illustrator/ concept artist. I like to draw creatures - real or imagined, extant or extinct! I'm open for commissions and available for work (link in bio!) 🐟🦕🐲🐳
The acts of serial killer Horace Abberton were deemed so heinous that after his hanging in 1879, his body was dumped and abandoned in the sewers of East London. Reports of sewer maintenance men going missing still occur to this day.
This recently uncovered photograph (circa 1920) may have been the last ever taken by local 'nature enthusiast' Bernard Sanderson before his mysterious disappearance. His small steamboat was found floating on the loch with no one at the helm...

A leaked photo from a presumed unpublished research paper (circa 2001) captioned "Figure 4. A live individual of N. rhombopteryx with three large L. fluviatilis attached to its body. The animal appears to have sustained injuries from a boat collision which attracted the lamprey."
In 2021 a team of researchers used Side-scan sonar imaging to survey the floor of the loch. One particular image (previously unpublished) shows a large, unidentified object moving close to the loch floor with an estimated length of 14 metres

The 'Oceanic Roc' is a giant stork-like creature spotted in remote areas along the east coast of North America. It is supposedly responsible for the disappearance of several fisherman. Empty boats have been found washed ashore with unusually large, gray feathers laying inside.
A mystery carcass found on the shore of the loch in 1968. The official report states that it belonged to "that of a Grey Seal which had succumbed to a novel infection, disfiguring and bloating the body". It was promptly burned "to prevent the spread of the disease"

YOU! PALEOARTIST!
Show me your art of dinosaurs and people coexisting. (Can be any other prehistoric animal. Can be mounts, pets, an animals that farmers like having around because it helps the ecosystem, or the more realistic dinosaurs hunting humans in spec evo)
Went down to the lake last night. I've never, ever seen a pelican that looked like this before. It was absolutely HUGE and bellowed like an alligator. I couldn't bring myself to get any closer...
Finally! Here's my extremely last minute entry to the
#paleoaquarium
challenge! It's a semi-outdoor Tiktaalik exhibit based on Crocodile and turtle enclosures. I completely underestimated how long this would take!
I enjoyed doing the previous Jurassic Park III study/ edit so much that I had to have a go at another one! Here's another really cool shot from the Spinosaurus river scene.
The Oceanic Roc is a giant sea bird spotted in remote coastal areas across North America. The folklore surrounding the creature states that it will appear and attack unsuspecting fisherman who encroach on the bird's food supply.
Although the recent paper doesn't change our understanding of
#Spinosaurus
(in particular) too much, I thought I'd repost these together. This scene would still work! 🦖
Late night
#SundayFishSketch
. This week's theme is "hard-working fishes". Great White Sharks have some of the longest migrations (distance-wise) of any shark species. Individuals have been documented travelling from South Africa to Australia and back again.
New Paleoart! A male Irritator challengeri (right) rears up to display his vibrant colours to a female (left) in the coastal lagoons of Early Cretaceous Brazil. 🦖
The Tulkun's appearance from the new Avatar film seems to be based mostly on Humpback Whales (at least to me). I decided to do some sketches of hypothetical variants of Tulkun which convergently evolved with other kinds of cetaceans. Which is your favourite? 🐳

Decided to work on the Karkinos (Giant crab from Greek Mythology) design a little bit more. Here's a more detailed drawing based on one of the sketches

Hi I'm Adam! I'm an aspiring illustrator/ concept artist. A lot of my art focuses on creatures and the natural world. I'm open for commissions and client work!
The Water Bull is a Scottish mythical creature that is said to have amphibious and shapeshifting abilities. I thought it would be fun to sketch hybrids of different bovids (especially more ancient breeds/ species) with aquatic mammals. 🌊🐮
#creatuanary
This new plesiosaur (Serpentisuchops pfisterae) is incredibly cool. It reminds me of those old paleoart depictions of plesiosaurs in the 1800's where they would make them look like weird swan/duck/dolphin things.
Artists, show me your most popular pieces
The found footage/ photo edits always seem to perform the best categorically, but I thought I'd also show some of my most popular hand-drawn/ painted pieces.
As always, THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. Don't go reposting this out of context/ edited to try and trick people. This is meant to be viewed as art in the found-footage genre and a bit of fun for October. Cheers 🙂
Thinking about coming back to/ expanding my 'PaleoAquarium' Tiktaalik enclosure concept design. Would love to do this with a different extinct species in the future.
The Ninja Lanternshark (Etmopterus benchleyi) for
#SundayFishSketch
. This deep-sea shark species is named after Peter Benchley, shark conservation advocate and author of Jaws
An etching from the early 1500's depicting the old folk tale of the village elder who sacrificed his first-born son to 'The Great Loch Serpent' by throwing him into the water. This act of appeasement prevented the beast from flooding the entire valley and kingdom.

Finally finished this piece! I know I'm a bit late to the Perucetus party.
A pod of Perucetus colossus search for food in the shallow coastal waters of the Eocene. 🐋
Here is a page of sketches based on alleged sightings/ descriptions/ footage of the Loveland Frogman Cryptid. I plan on making my own design along with a photo-composite piece like I did with the Mothman a while ago! 🐸
The Cocollona is a folkloric creature from Catlonia, Spain. It is described as a crocodile-like creature with a pair of butterfly wings. These sketches are my attempt at trying to incorporate the wings into crocodilian anatomy. Very fun design challenge! 🐊🦋

The Isisaurus design is one of my absolute favourites from
#PrehistoricPlanet
. Such beautiful colours, I just had to paint them!
Here are all the females looking after their egg clutches in a massive volcanic crater (from the Badlands episode). 🌋
Decided to torture myself with more foliage practice for tonight's
#StudyBuddies
. Quetzalcoatlus from
#PrehistoricPlanet
. I thought it owuld be fun to add my own pattern on this fella.
I wanted to make the Bake-Kujira (skeletal ghost whale) a re-animated whale fall (when a carcass sinks to the ocean floor and is scavenged by deep-sea animals). It crawls along on its pectoral fins and occasionally floats to the surface to seek revenge on whalers. 🐳
#creatuanary
Because it's Fossil Friday and I see that Jurassic World is (or was) trending, here are some of my takes on dinosaurs that have appeared in that film series! 🦖
Getting into the spooky season by following the prompts to
@Valdevia_Art
's Cursed Files art challeneg on his discord. Always wanted to do a full-on found footage horror piece! 🎃👻💀

Hi I'm Adam! I'm an aspiring illustrator/ concept artist with a particular interest in animals, creatures and horror. I'm currently looking for freelance work and I'm available for commissions!
Reposting this Great Blue Spotted Mudskipper from last year for this week's
#SundayFishSketch
theme of "fish that like warm tropical waters". This species lives in mangrove systems in parts of Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia.
The theme for this week's
#SundayFishSketch
is "best freshwater fishes". I can't decide what the best is, so how about the biggest and scariest? Here is a sketch page dedicated to the extinct Carboniferous tetrapodomorph Rhizodus. Its estimated length is about 7 meters long!🐟
Fantastic work! Seeing all of these made me realise I should make more paleoart pieces. Anyone who sees this, please share your own (if you feel like it)! 🦖
Its a
#SundayFishSketch
and
#sciartSeptember
crossover tonight and the theme is 'Abstract'. I feel like Pelican Eels (often called Gulper Eels) are like an Abstract expressionist take on fish anatomy. 🐟
