A much-too-late encounter in my 35yrs as a social worker is this: the cell-and-soul deep grief of many adoptees at the separation from their mothers: the loss of mama’s heartbeat, smell, sound, magnetic essence. Adoption is infinitely more complex & traumatic than we’ve allowed.
If you're an adoptee, this connection "doesn't matter" & we should "get over it" b/c we're "lucky we aren't dead" & should "be grateful someone took care of us". If not we're "Ungrateful hateful evil vile victim-playing bastards" & you can "see why our parents didn't want us."

Bishops shouldn’t lie. I’m a cradle Catholic. I returned to Mass in 2005 while running a Katrina shelter in Louisiana. Except for holidays, Cajun Louisiana is the only place I’ve seen full Catholic churches as an adult.
Archbishop Aquila of Denver blames declining Mass attendance on transgender equality and critical race theory: "We wonder why our Churches are empty. . .Whether it is the CRT... [or] transgender ideology …. we have failed to belong to Jesus Christ."

Indeed. I worked in child protection for years.
It IS a problem that, even where there is incontrovertible evidence of abuse, support is framed as belief (affirmative or negative) instead of “This person committed a crime against her; and we must state that truth with her.”

I see Priests for Life & Amarillo knew for years Frank Pavone harassed women. (But his social media!) Over & over again we learn other priests knew but did nothing. The silent would-be saviors who shrugged. How many are there? THOSE are the ones I want to take apart.
