@ProfMarkTaubert I would say 75% of the time I’m asked to do an MCA the request contains misunderstandings about its application - most commonly not understanding that it is decision- and time-specific. I.e not being able to ‘MCA in advance’

@stomababe Exactly! Had a patient today complaining (rightly) that they were supposed to be on soft and easy foods, and was given leafy greens, lots of meat and crispy wedges!

And has failed to invite any of the 350+ disabled persons organisations (who all oppose) - despite that this will exclusively affect disabled people, by definition.
I’m still stunned that the committee for a Bill that quite literally rewrites the Suicide Act of 1961 voted against inviting the Royal College of Psychiatrists to give oral evidence 🤯

@AmyClukey @dowellml Obviously not for blind/visually impaired people. Screen reader/braille input devices/enlarged screens cannot be achieved without computer technology. No version on pen/paper. (Technically manual braillers exist but they are archaic - incredibly loud and no ability to edit).

@juliaisobela So angry to hear this. I had a similar ish issue last year being rejected for disability-related pre-allocation, and really hoped some lessons had been learned…. Will keep fingers crossed things go right for you in the main pool 🤞

@iDrSunny @UMAPsUK @gmcuk @DHSCgovuk @NHSEngland @NHSE_WTE @AoMRC Shameful to see it co-opted as if discrimination is just a throwaway term to be used in argument, when there are those of us (doctors) constantly fighting against actual discrimination in medicine.

@ProfMarkTaubert @DrNShastriHurst Very concerned that despite all disabled-led disability organisations being against, only a pro-AD disabled MP is included. Partly due to a lack of disabled MPs, but not entirely.

@ProfMarkTaubert @bmj_latest Thank you for sharing, I’m just hoping to share a perspective that isn’t usually seen much from the doctor side of things.
