@alexrmoskowitz A tiny tiny tiny part of my brain thought maybe it was a picture taken at an awkward moment. I watched the video and it is 100% a Nazi salute.

@JackieSeidel1 The solution to rabbits and voles in the garden is to plant more so there's enough for everyone.

@TsaiMeLemoni @wildcat_of @AJP_PhD @dowellml Do people even realize that many, if not most, faculty only give accommodations for documented disabilities? Last semester I had a literal line of five students out the door asking for study tips for ADHD when I mentioned in class that I have it. I am such a monster.

@ValerieBre7193 @adamfare1996 @lizardolphin @dowellml I am interested in doing precisely that and I am open to ideas, but there is very little engagement here. I'm mostly seeing knee-jerk declarations of ableism. It seems if one doesn't hew to the party-line of "all screens all the time" then they have to be shut down.

@NonwayneWayne @wildcat_of I've had a ton of responses in the last 24 hours from people who support all screens all time and nearly all of them have been rude AF. No discussion, no nuance, just screaming "ableist."

@adamfare1996 @lizardolphin @dowellml Screens don't cause harm to "some" students. They harm most students. Everyone wants to downplay that, but it's well-documented.

@adamfare1996 @lizardolphin @dowellml I realize my original post was glib. I didn't realize I'd get so many responses or I would've been more careful. But we can't ignore that screens cause harm, just as we can't ignore the needs of disabled students.

@adamfare1996 @lizardolphin @dowellml Then we should be talking about accommodations rather than assuming that people who want to ban or limit screens are student-hating monsters. There are other options besides allowing screens for everyone all the time.

@lizardolphin @dowellml I do and I know it's often prohibitively difficult. For that reason, I do not require documentation for accommodations. I trust students if they tell me that they need one.

@MalteseSailor @HKBradshaw Yes, but only for students with disabilities (documented or undocumented). I'm realizing now that the language in my post makes it seem I don't allow any ever. My overall policy is no screens.

@MalteseSailor @HKBradshaw I give disability accommodations to every student who asks for one. That means some students use laptops in class because they need to.

@wildcat_of @AJP_PhD @dowellml Students who need the technology get disability accommodations. "Accommodations can be made." Apparently people need help with basic literacy.

@tizzie_claire_x @dowellml I allow students with visual impairments to use laptops as a disability accommodation. Thus "accommodations can be made."

@PaulJon91817883 She's always been mentally ill and had scandals. As a person, Roseanne was never someone to admire. But her behavior was still largely ignorable.
