Nowhere in the Terminally Ill Adults Bill does it say that someone needs to ask the person requesting assisted dying why they want to die.

Please read and watch this whole thread. It’s beyond worrying - it’s chilling.

The @thetimes: "whether you are for or against assisted dying, this is no way to legislate for what would represent one of the most profound changes in the relationship between the state and its citizens". 🧵on last two days and a very novel form of govt neutrality 1/

@jamesdownar James you can’t police how people use hard data. If someone said 8% of people in Oregon cite *only* financial issues - then I agree with you. But it is perfectly valid to say that 8% cite financial issues - they do.

@jamesdownar I can see that on average people cite 4 things. But not how ‘dominant’ financial concerns are among those who cite them. Can you see something I can’t?

Of the 21 papers included in this review, 11 reported studies with women experiencing abuse, 3 included men and women experiencing abuse, 2 did not report on gender and 5 focused on professionals.

@jamesdownar @danny__kruger How do you know from that aggregate data how important financial concerns were for those who cited them? You can’t use a population ‘average’ to draw conclusions about outliers.
