My brother's childhood friend just inherited a modest suburban CA ranch home from his grandfather and now his boomer uncles arent speaking to him or his mom and are threatening to take them to court because they wanted to rent that home out, both are already landlords.

@JohnGuaido69 It really kills me because both of the uncles are wealthy lawyers & landlords who own homes as well as rental houses & wanted another property for their portfolio; the guy who inherited it is like 32, works at the Post Office and had been splitting a 1bdrm apt with his partner.

@kingkalvan The grandfather died a few years ago and everything went thru and the kid and his partner just recently moved in. It sounds like grandpa foresaw this exact situation and made the will very clear and the uncles are huffing and puffing because theyre lawyers and thats what they do.

@WalkingJingle For sure thats whats going on. But imo grandpa looked at the situation and likely knew what the uncles had planned and wanted 1. to give his grandson a shot at homeownership and 2. to leave his house to someone who would live in it and like it or not that was his prerogative.

@_MariaBurnett When I was in prison I was in a film club with some other guys and one member had been in for almost 20 years- he commented on the combo vhs/dvd we had saying we were lucky to have it, these things are so expensive. It was 2015. We couldnt tell him the truth, it was too hard.
