I seriously cannot fathom how it’s acceptable to suffer from PSSD and Akathisia. How is it even possible to feel this way? I cant get over how this joke of a medical system lets this happen and then has no treatment to back it up. It’s like a major slap in the face. Disgusting.

I remember being at school when I was castrated and lobotomized, I didn’t know what PSSD was at the time. I had a mental breakdown in front of my friends because I could feel my soul exiting my body. It never returned after that day. 2 years later, nothing exists behind my eyes.

I never reported PSSD to my psychiatrist because it was too embarrassing to speak about.
There’s also a lot of gaslighting regarding this issue so most of us kept quiet for awhile.

PSSD being rare is no excuse to leave those who have been harmed in the dust. There are many other rare diseases and conditions out there that have treatments, whereas PSSD has nothing. We have over 8k in the subreddit and it is unfortunately growing. This needs to be recognized.

I’m seeing people on here dismissing our condition by referring to it as rare. Rare or not, it should not be an excuse to completely drop this issue. There are many rare conditions that exist and are treatable. Where is that treatment for

I wasn’t informed about any side effects. Not only that, but now I have PSSD which my doctors try to act like I’m insane and gaslight me to no end. I’ve seen 7 of them, its been a highly traumatizing experience to say the least.

Thank you so much for validating PSSD and believing us, it means a lot. This has been extremely disabling for us as the cognitive side has taken over our lives (severe emotional blunting). Most of us are young and now we cannot even work due to the many symptoms we experience.

That small chance shouldn’t exist. PSSD is not mentioned anywhere in the US even though it has been acknowledged by the EMA. People aren’t being warned. I’m glad you were saved by them but others shouldn’t have to suffer from a ‘life saving’ medication. Enough said.

Yes we know it’s a common side effect, but to see it persist AFTER discontinuing the pill is what they’re referring to. Some people report that the side effects do not go away after treatment which can be permanent.

Some people are against them because they can literally cause permanent castration, known as PSSD. Even worse, it’s not listed on the side effect labels so nobody is being warned about this risk. imagine getting PSSD and saying “oh well, i still like antidepressants!”

It is not PSSD if the sexual dysfunction is resolving within a couple of months coming off the medication. This condition lasts years, if not permanently for many of us.
