This is a perfect demonstration of why the hierarchy changes were moronic btw. Non-driving pedestrians don’t read the HWC. All they know about the changes is whatever the tabloid headlines were. So they mistakenly believe they have right of way at every crossing. Increased danger.

So who should be giving way to who here? . This truck driver said he saw me as he was already halfway turning across #Cycleway4. It's my understanding from the Highway Code rule H3 that just because you're in a truck it doesn't exempt you from stopping and waiting.

I've just asked the Mayor about the "wall of buses" traffic gridlock in Streatham. He told me he's not aware of problems!. Let me remind him. First: bus drivers considering strike action. A bus took 55 mins to travel 2 stops when it normally takes 4 mins.

Floating bus stops in Park Lane, London. This is dangerous. The bus stops are not fit for purpose. The zebra crossings are like chocolate fireguards, they do not work. It is essential access to & from the bus is direct from the pavement without having to cross a cycle lane first.

I often see visibly disabled people using #Cycleway4 and I wouldn't doubt there is a greater number who don't appear so from just looking at them also cycling. Would they feel comfortable on the main road in 20+ mph traffic?

@swalesmetroprof 20mph has nothing to do with safety, much like LTNs are designed to dissuade driving according to Labour (image below), 20mph limits are also intended to discourage driving. Driving at 20mph feels ridiculous - we didn’t all magically lose the ability to control our cars at 30mph

Third option (and the most likely):. Rules have been made ridiculous since Covid. Lowering limits to nonsensical speeds (20mph) to try and get people out of cars is obviously going to result in higher offending rates.
Are driving standards deteriorating or are we just catching more people offending. The number of drivers attending courses is increasing every year.
