This ties in with the interesting perspective @sturdyAlex shared on the latest @QuietRiotPod with @pimlicat , which I hadn’t considered and though I remain wary, have filled me with hope that the truth lies somewhere in the middle of all our views/fears at the very least.

I know everyone is terrified but this is the far right LOSING political power in Britain. They are desperate and angry. Because they have lost control of everything that matters. And they will not be allowed to rise this way.

@JonnElledge @penny__traitor Sorry, John, but it’s not as simple as that. Two MPs were murdered. Politicians should be able to interact with the public without being assaulted even if it’s *just* milkshake. We should encourage less stage managed interactions. What if it was acid or something else harmful?

At no point in this article does James Forsyth mention that Rishi Sunak is his best friend or that he was best man at his wedding. It’s less conflict of interest and more all-out-war of interests.

@implausibleblog This is exactly why I hate today’s news, even if it resulted in a bigger Labour landslide than might’ve been the case until today. The xenophobic demagoguery will be ratcheted up. Even though it’s been a dull campaign so far, it hasn’t been too bad on the race-baiting front… 😒

A classic of the non-apology apology genre.

Deleted an earlier tweet I worded poorly, it wasn't my intention to diminish victims' experiences

@LeeDavidEvansUK On hereditary peers, I wholly disagree. It’s a total anachronism in the 21st century to retain them. If they have particular expertise, they should be retained as life peers. However, I’m with you on the arbitrary age cut-off. The lack of participation mechanism is sufficient.

Exactly. Whether you agree with or like his strategy this campaign, there’s absolutely no doubt that the only reason the Lib Dems have received any coverage at all is because of the stunts. Whether it’s had cut through accruing votes, seats & long-term supporters is less clear.

@Fantomas236 @AdamWagner1 @MilsomChr @Freedland @davidallengreen Gloat all you want, but I think you'll find it's all of us who stand to lose if we don't adhere to our international obligations and that this will turn out to be pyrrhic victory for Brexiteers who seek to win a battle (no deal Brexit), only to lose the war (global politicking).

@AgniC5 @ilex_rubra @WineandHair I disagree, Agni! Upper caste hegemony is perpetuated when they only do this for ceremony for their own caste, serve food & drinks to lower castes in different cutlery, & don’t allow lower caste or menstruating women from attending temples. This is just a fun cultural adaptation.

@joedunnn @jack125esc @aliciakearns Thanks for taking the time to provide this response. I don't think it's helpful when MPs just object with condescension ("perhaps wait more than a week") & appeals to tradition (compelling as that may be). It's important to discuss trade-offs & hear both sides of the argument.

At $75 million the mission cost less than half the budget spent on Hollywood’s Interstellar and Barbie blockbusters. It’s the most cost-effective and efficient space programme in the world. The social security budget on its own at federal, state and local level is $270 billion.

India has become the first country to land on the moon’s South Pole. Meanwhile 84% of Indians live on less than $6.85 per day. Can’t help but feel the funds would have been better spent elsewhere…

@mo3ov @StnlssStlRt @ellegist What’s sick is your dismissive reaction to the correct and appropriate usage of rape (a sexual act without consent) in this instance. But thank you for bringing notice to your misogyny🚩. Your timeline is instructive to how you actually view (& probably treat) women.

@rv_southern Aye, for sure! I’ve not studied the period in detail but I have knack for remembering dates and that one didn’t ring a bell at all. It’s certainly inspired me to add yet another thing to the list of ‘spare time’ rabbit holes to go down. I’m sorry it’s had a personal impact! 😒

@milzeemiller @IainDale @lisanandy @Jacqui_Smith1 @liverpoolphil Bigots like @milzeemiller give it the big one about speaking freely even if it offends a minority but the moment you pull ‘em up on it, they turn into the biggest snowflakes. 😂 Absolute melt.
