Today, 80 years since Auschwitz was liberated, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and all victims of the Nazis, as well as the victims of genocide in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. Those dark days must drive us to build a brighter future. #HMD2025

Happy birthday to the late Ewan MacColl, born #OTD in 1915 in Broughton. His iconic song 'Dirty Old Town,' inspired by Salford's lost slums and chimneys, embodies a fight against inequality and a vision for a fairer society serving everyone—a message as relevant today as ever.

I'm pleased that support will soon be in place to ease any financial and emotional strain for those with children in neonatal care. This will help families focus on what truly matters – their newborn's well-being.

Brilliant question by @JoPlattLeigh on such an important and harrowing issue. We must secure justice for all of our constituents affected and pleased to see many MPs across GM supporting the group.

Yesterday I was pleased to support the establishment of an Armed Forces Commissioner. This Commissioner will serve as a staunch advocate for our Armed Forces and their families, providing essential support to all those who serve our nation.

Deeply saddened by the passing of 99-year-old Salford veteran Joe Thomas, who served bravely in Operation Shingle at Anzio, aiding Rome's liberation. My thoughts are with his daughter Patricia, family, and friends. He’ll be greatly missed by our community.

Huge thanks to Salford Community Fire Station team for making time for my visit yesterday. Inspiring to see the dedication they have for Fire&Water safety, clearly going beyond the call of duty everyday. Great to also see the Scorpion, high reach extendable turret, in action too.

Packed, oversubscribed debate yesterday on the injustice 1950s women faced in changes to state pension age. This injustice, identified by the women, and an independent Ombudsman can’t be ignored. Govt must urgently work with groups representing women affected to set out a remedy.

Train services will stop running on some weekends in Salford this year while work takes place to upgrade our city’s stations, including building a third platform at Salford Crescent to improve passenger flow and reduce delays. Remember to check schedules before weekend travel.

Tonight I voted in favour of the Renter’s Rights Bill, the biggest reform to renting in 40+ years. This will:.• Ban no-fault evictions.• Limit upfront rent demands.• Protect tenants from damp & mould. #RentersRightsBill
