As a reporter, I really hope you talk with someone who can walk you through this investment analysis (ROI + risk). It's important for more people to understand the economics, otherwise we will continually have less housing than needed and people will suffer due to that.
@d_feldman
Seattle is indeed a tough rental market, but having roommates decreases rent and lowers credit issues. I had roommates well into my late 30s.
This story kinda bothers me b/c there are actually much worse situations and the apt she ended up in is quite nice.
@BeijingPalmer
They do this b/c they are mostly powerless. Since they refuse to participate in institutions and processes of governance, they just sit on the sidelines, angry that everyone doesn't do what they want.
@jfruh
18 years ago I started up a SaaS for Restaurants and other similar businesses to host their website on our service. They had no money, but huge pixel demands and didn't give AF about people finding actual information. Man, what a trainwreck of an idea. Probably 10 yrs too early
@HopelessLiberal
Is it wrong to be happy about the government enforcing the law on law breakers? Matt would probably be equally happy about the giving of speeding tickets in a school zone, as we all should be.

Being responsible is a good trait, but men who own handguns are eight times more likely to die of gun suicides than men who donโt own handguns.

Easy: Laws limiting the consumption of eggs to no more than 3 eggs per day per person. Egg police can easily make this happen. And we can pay for the Egg Police by taxes on Big Egg.
@ELINTNews
This NYT "visual investigation" team would have benefitted from the inclusion of a military expert. None of those "investigators" has military experience. None.
This analysis below is much more professional. Please reconsider pushing this NYT mistake.
Were the russians in Makiivka executed?
No. And I will explain all the facts in this thread ๐งต:
Yesterday the
@nytimes
published an article about the dead russians in Makiivka... and didn't bother to ask a single military expert, officer, weapons expert, or Ukrainian.

Demolition of the Russian military without losing American lives? What did we get when we spent billions of dollars on defense during the cold war, James?

This conforms to research that suggests people will search out data that confirms their priors. Unbelievable junk economics, but totally believable that so many people want to believe in "greedflation" and other folk econ theories. Luckily, the world is not running on her ideas.
@RepKatiePorter
There's so much wrong with this it is exhausting to watch. Why do the politicians on my side of the political spectrum refuse to understand even the basics of economics?
@ArmandDoma
I've been an IT contractor in state government. It's really quite messed up. Many, many employees are on the 30 year plan to not get fired. Sure, they complain about their pay, but no way would they ever quit. As a contractor, I can work at like 30% effort and I'm a star.
@karla_kingsbury
@drvolts
Is there any way I can convince you that unemployment is at historically low numbers and the people who were cashiers are now doing other, perhaps higher paying jobs? We used to have hundreds of thousands of switchboard operators, but then technology improved. Same thing here.

And then they should investigate anyone who doesn't vote to investigate those 65. And then they should investigate anyone who doesn't vote to investigate those who didn't vote to investigate. And then they should investigate anyone who didn't vote to investigate those who ....

I dunno. Cities aren't walkable, neighborhoods are. I've lived in neighborhoods in Milwaukee, Denver and Madison (all of them not being dense cities) where I **rarely** got into my car. And there are places in all those cities Sam lists that are definitely not walkable.
@ne0liberal
Isn't the nightmare scenario for the GOP if Trump doesn't win the primary and then chooses to blow up the GOP's chances with a 3rd party run?

โYou lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.โ When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
This action by

@CincyTennis
is an embarrassment for the United States. An action in favor of military oppression and anti-free speech. They eventually claim it was the flag dimensions, but that has never been the case with flags at WTA events.

These people dislike a certain aesthetic of living and then wrap environmental politics into that in order to be against that way of living. Unfortunately, these are my people.

Michael, you must be referring to all those Trump appointed judges who threw out the cases the Trump team tried in various states of so called stolen votes. I certainly hope you are better IRL, as you claim.

It's a honey pot. Tweet out something objectively true and then watch the blue ticks freak out about it and then you block each one of them. Rinse, repeat.
TPP Withdrawal was a foreign policy train wreck that will affect the US and other countries for decades. Jones Act is dumb classic industry protectionism. My vote is TPP withdrawal.
Not only won't ChatGPT give an answer, ChatGPT knows there are studies related to this question, but won't tell you the studies or the authors of those studies.

Noah doesn't push for extreme density, he advocates for **the option* for people to choose high density. It's about freedom, liberty, and private property rights, not pushing a specific way to live.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but Tokyo is constrained by water and mountains and is in an earthquake zone and yet the metro area has 40 million people.

Unfortunately, many folks (and especially universities), pushed a story that the only way to succeed in life was with a college degree. Way too many people believed that story, and now many of them have a partial degree and debt and no better career.

Presidential elections in the US are either/or. That's just how they are, but some people continually refuse to accept the messy nature of reality so they let other people choose our president.
Also, Biden is doing very well wrt Israel. We are not their puppeteers.
Want? I want Congress and the White House along with other western democracies to ensure Ukraine regains their borders and the aggressor (imperialist Russia and Putin) is neutered.
$100 billion?
If that is what it takes, yes Senator, that's how I want Congress to vote.
@Nowooski
Last year I had a lefty friend of years unfriend me on the book of faces because I said Pierogi and Pelmeni were basically the same thing.
Meanwhile, I argue constantly with my friends on the right and not one of them has unfriended me.

Why not? Tell us specifically what is not sustainable here. From first glance, looks like they have virtually unlimited access to very low cost electricity.

The supply of doctors is not a "market solution" you bozo. Although I understand your ignorance is likely due to the fact you're a comedian.

So wait, they DIDN'T seek feedback from the public about seeking feedback from the public on the CFPB's plan to seek feedback from the public?!?
This is an outrage!!
@ArmandDoma
Yeah, the people who think windows in bedrooms are super important seem unable to discuss this issue rationally. I've tried. Unsuccessfully.
@robbysoave
Is it "Voters like Republican polices" or is it "Voters like moderate polices"? I would guess that ranked choice voting would help moderate the election of representatives most everywhere and not just in Alaska.
