There’s a quote like “saying there’s no life beyond earth is like taking a spoonful of water from the beach and saying there’s no fish in the ocean”

This why y’all stay poor, you not about the hustle fr. If you came over to this side you’d be getting real money like me. But fine if you enjoy being financially enslaved you do you, but what we’re doing over here is big, if you don’t join in now you’ll regret. We building gener-
The Batman is one of the few super hero films that remembered the whole point of being a hero is to save people. Everything from the last decade has just been about fighting aliens or some shit.

When multiple ppl like u, at some point u gotta start realizing that u only think they lying because of ur insecurities that only u are aware of. Their view of u is completely different. Ur self sabotaging when U probably have qualities u didn’t realize u had dat they liked

The universe is just that vast. The probability for the chemistry that happened on earth to also bring about life elsewhere definitely can’t be zero.
This reminds me of how Nolan said he chose actors with “old faces” for Dunkirk. Ever since then I’ve never been able to see Timothee Chalamet the same because he looks like someone who was born 100 years ago.
Watched the new Black Mirrors. Incredibly jarring to see Aaron Paul in a period piece set in 1969. He has a physiognomy that simply didn't exist before the mid-80s
@PurpleGeth
For me it wasn't a particular scene. It was witnessing the character designs of Kenichi Yoshida. They've just got this loose and gestural feeling to them that I immediately fell in love with and it was the first time I watched an anime and thought "I wonder who made this?"
@1prettyyc__
I heard a rumor about the smoke coming from nuclear detonation tests. Apparently they detonated one at that damn in Ukraine so that Nolan could film it for Oppenheimer.
@GlockoMarley
I had one the other day and threw the wrapper in the trash. I thought I was safe till my brother had to throw sum shit away and he saw it on the top of the trash and he just pointed at the footlong wrapper and looked at me and said “dis you?” Smh

Its been years since I’ve read USM, but the whole appeal and marketing of the ultimate universe back in the day was that it offered a grittier, edgier and more “realistic” tone in contrast to 616.
Chance The Rapper really didn’t need to fall off. He only had 1 bad album out of 5 and people act like he never made good music.
There’s been far worse rappers.
@TheCountofS
A lot of people just aren’t into unambiguous depictions of militia in fiction anymore. Even the “good guys” have to have some kind of insincere twist to them. It’s the same cynicism you see everywhere really.
It's not a trick question. It's a video game.
The covenant are engaging in a war of extinction.
It's kind of deranged that you have to salt and pepper something with "le heckin Fascist UNSC" in order to swallow it.
Humans are the good guys in the story. Enjoy.
@spikermonster
You can’t just adapt everything 1:1. Animation has to exaggerate motions and acting to communicate certain ideas because there’s less information in a drawing of a person compared to real life. It’s a symbolic medium.

@hollowchatter
Narrative efficiency describes this perfectly. A really good example of this is in Pixar movies. Every scene in those movies hits a clear cut story beat moving the plot forwards. Meanwhile you have Ghibli films that are more meditative and even ambiguous at times.

Every tech company does this. Doesn't excuse the practice, but calling out gamefreak for it like they're the only company that does this is pretty naive
I notice a lot of CSM readers are uncomfortable with Denji's libido, so they end up trying to rationalize it via literary/psycho analysis. While there's stuff to chew on there, the simpler truth is that he's just a teenage boy. Regardless of his past he'd have those thoughts.
I recently saw someone say they’ve noticed recent manga adaptations are copying panels 1:1 more than ever before. It reminded me of

article on the decline of layouts and I feel like this is definitely a factor.
When I was 11 I played too much Lego Batman and had a nightmare he was human sized and hit my brother with the combo until he exploded into pieces like Lego bricks.

FLCL’s masterclass animation was one of the main characteristics of the show and its identity. The sequels do not understand that at all. They don’t even look good compared to stuff airing alongside it.

The scene with Emily Blunt finding him in the forest and literally saying “You don't get to commit sin and then ask all of us to feel sorry for you when there are consequences” was also extremely blunt about this.
For me I feel like that scene is basically the core of the film.
The most frustrating part is they’re often rooted in some *real* catalyst oppressing all of us but fixate on the wrong part of the story and it all derails so quickly
Hip-hop works because its inspired by authentic experiences and culture the artists are connected to. K-pop rappers need to be talking bout the DMZ or the chaebol or student suicide rates or Japanese-Korean relations or something.
Aliens is a masterclass in using texture to sell a high-concept setting. It feels like a world that already existed. Some parts feel like a documentary. The sets, costume design, effects, lighting, composition, is all on 10.
the original teaser for ALIENS is really one of the most elegant and effective trailers ever made, using almost exclusively images and score to build atmosphere, dread and suspense in under two minutes. every single shot adds to the impact, it's brilliantly put together.
A lot of people can't accept this so they keep trying to find a way to rationalize his actions and frame them as the result of trauma or victimization in order to remove the agency from Denji so he seems less problematic. I think it's fine for him to just be kind of an asshole.
