@ceourso They sold the patent for the sole in the 60’s to a UK company. They redesigned the boot, added the stitching and only kept the sole from the OG docs. Today’s docs are not modeled after Klaus Märtens boots, but the UK Griggs boots, which were sold as cheap, comfy work boots.

Every single business I interact with who has closed in the last 4 years have all said it was soaring rent and declining sales because their customers can’t afford to dine out/splurge on retail or professional services that can be done at home. Safety is never mentioned. Ever.
Businesses are fleeing SF. We’re leading the country with record-high vacancy rates. Tax incentives and nibbling around the edges won’t bring them back until we clean up our streets. Public safety is my # 1 priority so we can have a thriving city once again.
