And now you know why Megan Basham NEEDED the ERLC thing to be about Moore pushing the SBC to the progressive left. Instead, what happened at the ERLC was breaking news that news outlets engaged with. The retraction was completely internal as per the exec comm's own admission.
@DennyBurk
You're going to insist that Trump was a pro-life candidate until now? Maybe admit that Trump is a politician who used evangelicals to get elected. He doesn't pray for or think about unborn lives and never has.
I can't find an instance in the Bible of Jesus making a poor person financially wealthy. But when rich people met Jesus, they either gave it away and followed Jesus or went away and rejected Jesus.

It may have been God’s will to spare a man’s life in order to bring him to repentance.
That doesn’t mean it is God’s will for us to vote for him.
A man who has shown so little grace to others has been shown much grace.
Pray for his salvation.
What have we learned from
#PaigePatterson
scandal? We need repentance and humility in our convention.
So, let's allow the

to pat us on the back for our moral contribution to the fabric of society.
We've learned nothing.

What if Gus Walz's emotional response is the healthy response and the rest of us have dysregulated emotions?
I'm shocked at how many people in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-four think it's okay to publicly mock a 17 year old who loves his dad.
1. It’s not Rob Reiner’s movie.
2. Christians involved in it are not advocating Hollywood ideals they are attacking non-Christian authoritarianism. You all are missing the forest for the trees.
3. And you don’t even know what the trees are. You haven’t even seen it yet!
Yesterday we fought for the inerrancy of Scripture and it went to our heads.
Today we fight for the implementation of Scripture and I hope it goes to our hearts.

If I thought the SBC was unraveling I wouldn't have led our independent Baptist church to join this past year. The recent appointments of

It took a decade for me to slowly lose confidence in the individuals on the back of this book. So believe me when I tell you that I won't be reading this book not because of any knee-jerk discounting or "dismissive bleats" but after painful consideration for many years.
@MBLinton
It's disturbing. The ability to discern fact from fiction should be a hallmark of those who follow Christ. But I saw a lot of pastors and SBC leaders fall in lockstep with her unsubstantiated assertions.
Defunding or maligning the

I'm hearing a lot of evangelicals claiming to know the mind of the Lord. They say God saving Trump is proof he will be our next president.
But was it a dodged bullet or a warning shot? Did God spare Trump or warn Trump? Or both?
How about we stop politicizing God's will.
@MichaelHorton_
I’ve been using the following as an acronym:
- God’s Sovereignty in Creation and Election
- Radical Depravity of Sinners
- Absolute Redemption paid for by the Son
- Called Effectively by the Spirit
- Enduring Faith of the Saints
There are more than two options and some of them aren’t evil:
First, not voting is not sin.
Secondly, voting third party like
@AmSolidarity
is not a throw away vote. It’s a protest vote against two evils.
Finally, how did you determine which was the lesser of two evils?

Oops. I didn’t realize this was controversial. This morning I preached on lust of the flesh/eyes/pride, etc. I said, David saw Bathsheba, raped her, and killed her husband to cover it up. Might be hearing about that this week.

If you walk into a drug store that's being robbed and get caught in the crossfire with police. The police shoot you and you die...
you got justice!
See how that makes no sense? Innocent victims being shot by police will never be justice. This is a shameful post.
The Law Amendment failed by 40% but only 10% sided with egalitarian FBC Alexandria. It is clear that the overwhelming will of SBC messengers is to appoint biblically qualified males to the office of pastor/elder/overseer in their churches. Reading anything else into the vote is
Blog UPDATE: The SBC rejected a constitutional ban on women pastors, a major victory for those within the denomination seeking to maintain local church autonomy and soften what many considered growing antagonism toward women in ministry.

If more conservative Christians had expressed as much outrage at the shameful immorality of the Republican nominee as they expressed regarding a post-Christian display of French culture our entire political landscape might have been different. But we didn't and it isn't.
@BethMooreLPM
When I'm discipling men, I remind them that a) the Bible tells a wife to submit to her own husband (not to everyone) b) that the command is for wife to obey not for husband to enforce c) that the husbands command is to love her as Jesus loves her. Do that and see how she responds
I’m so proud of my church. We voted last night to allow a group from our community to use our space rent free & voted to let a Spanish church begin meeting in our fellowship hall. Our kids will be together in nursery and children’s church and we’ll have joint services monthly.

From the callous servant's perspective, he views the master as hard and unfair. Nothing in the text suggests that he was right to view the master in that way. Easiest thing to do is to shift blame and justify our sin and irresponsible behavior.

Who? Where? When has this happened? What Christian, specifically, has ever advocated for the unborn and then stopped caring for others who are born?

There were two perspectives in the debate. TGC wasn’t forcing a perspective on anyone. Those of us who watched it actually found both presenters to be well informed and articulate. Why offer an obviously ignorant response when you could watch it and then offer an informed one?
To describe in every graphic detail the act of sexual intercourse and use it to symbolize or allegorize the gospel and the Jew/Gentile union in Christ isn’t anywhere in view here. To suggest otherwise is exegetical malpractice. Pull the chapter. Pull the book. Apologize. /end
Just to be clear: This is not persecution. This is a pastor foolishly exposing his congregants and community to disease and he is disobeying and dishonoring God.

I agree. Someone in the English Bible publishing world needs to take out the heading in the middle of the sentence between “submitting to one another…” and “wives, to your own husbands”. If Josh had spent some time reflecting on context of Ephesians 5… a 🧵 on this 🧵 /1

The problem was that Josh tried to interpret Eph. 5:31-32 divorced from the context of Eph. 5:25-30.

We are willing to pray, give, go to the nations for the nations... but are we willing to welcome the nations in our churches?
Has the modern mission movement given some an excuse to evangelize the heathen without having to welcome the stranger?

He called Warren a modern day church reformer. 😂
Seriously, though, if he wants to disagree on the role of women serving as pastors he's welcome to do that but what does that have to do with politics? Removing fellowship from Saddleback was not done to score political points.

Thanks for saying this Jackie. Of everything that has been said on twitter tonight about the debate, this is the one thing I’m retweeting. It’s important.
Southern Baptists are clear: a woman serving as an elder/overseer OVER the church (with or without the title "pastor") is a second-tier issue.
Where Southern Baptists are unclear is on the third-tier issue of a woman who is NOT serving as an elder/overseer, but who IS directing

's Shepherds For Sale is not a truthful or helpful book for the church in our time. Here I show the problems and tactics involved in her critique of me in chapter 1.
Is there a helpful way to encourage modesty and discourage lust?
Both are biblical but purity culture seemed to overemphasis modesty and anti-purity culture seems to reject it.
I agree purity culture was spiritually toxic but I also believe modesty is biblical. Thoughts?

You don’t think calling out a popular voice on marriage and fatherhood who gets it 100% wrong is a necessary thing to do? This article is still published. This author is still referenced in marriage counseling. And his advice is horrendous. But Sheila is the problem?
@BethMooreLPM
If a husband (or even worse, a pastor) is obsessing about his wife (or all the women in the church) submitting to him then he is ruling as an authoritarian. Love her (them) and nurture her (them) in the Word and she (and they) will follow you as you lead them closer to Christ.
But in English we read “Wives, submit” and we yell that at our wives thinking we have the authority to command them as husbands. Untold abuse has been done with those two words. (For the Greek scholars out there, those are the idiot husbands not the idiois husbands). /13
