👎🏼 time consuming

Homeschool can be:

Marriage is between one man and one woman.
There are only two genders (and you can’t change yours).
Abortion is murder.
Here the Christian must stand, come what may.
1. Don’t be alone with a woman who is not your wife.
2. Give your wife access to all text messages and email.
3. Install accountability software on all devices.
4. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The claim "God moved the bullet" is more of a mythological view of God than a biblical view.
God didn't have to "move the bullet," as if the shot was somehow independent of him.
He ordained the trajectory before the foundation of the world.
1. Don’t be alone with a woman who is not your wife.
2. Give your wife access to all text messages and email.
3. Install accountability software on all devices.
4. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Christians need to stop making exceptions for abortion in cases of rape or incest. Those are terrible tragedies, but you're still advocating killing a human being.
No abortion. Period.
Men: Sing like men.
None of this breathy, effeminate, whiney crooning so common in pop music.
Sing like men. Full-throated, resonate, from-your-diaphragm singing.
Sing like warriors. Sing like men.
I love this country, and I love July 4th.
But please, please, this Lord's Day, remember that the church is an embassy of another kingdom. Fireworks and flags don't have a place in the church's worship.
Monday? Celebrate this great country.
The Holy Spirit today does not work apart from his Word. Ever.
No "still small voice," no mystical peace, no visions, no "prompting."
He works through his Word.
You want the Holy Spirit to work in your life? Read his Word.
A message to moms who will be wrestling with little ones during the worship service tomorrow: Be encouraged—God accepts your efforts as worship, even if you don't quite hear the whole sermon and you have to take your child out 5x! Well done.
Men, just preach the Word.
Don't worry about "dropping truth bombs," don't try to make a splash, don't try to go viral, don't try to do the Holy Spirit's job.
Be faithful; trust the ordinary means of grace.
Just preach the Word.
Don't welcome the Holy Sprit to your worship service. It's his service.
That would be like visiting the White House and then telling the President he's welcome there.
Don't give in and watch The Chosen. Your imagination will forever be shaped by the visceral potency of a cinematic interpretation of Bible narratives, and it will therefore be much more difficult to allow the words of Scripture to shape your imagination.
God gave us words.
Female eldership threatens the gospel for the following reasons:
1. Female eldership undermines the authority and clarity of Scripture.
2. Female eldership undermines the created order.
3. Female eldership submits the church to the spirit of the age.
When you entertain kids in "children's church" instead of welcoming them into corporate worship, we shouldn't be surprised when they grow up unable to sit through a 40 minute sermon.
I’m certainly not the first to point this out, but it’s worth emphasizing:
Would you be ok with someone identifying as an adultery-attracted Christian? How about a pedophilia-attracted Christian?
Then why are you ok with someone identifying as a same-sex- attracted Christian?
This is the same nonsense as open border logic. Christian parents, do not let TGC make you feel guilty for obeying your God-given responsibility to disciple your children and protect them from government schools whose very purpose is to disciple your children away from
Jen Wilkin said on TGC that if a Christian doesn’t send their kid(s) to public school “b/c it’s what’s best for our family” that other Christian’s need to push back on that & remind them sending their kid to public school is for the greater good and used Phil. 2:4 to back it up.
Defining revival as extended days of tangibly feeling God's manifest presence just shows you how Pentecostalized modern evangelicalism has become.
That's not revival. Revival is when many people repent of their sins under doctrinal preaching by a pastor in a church.
Most men who grew up in evangelicalism grew up with feminized singing (both in pop music and the church), and therefore most Christian men just don't sing.
It's time to change that.
Sing Psalms.
Sing rugged, manly tunes.
Sing robustly.
Sing all the time.
Teach boys to sing.
Abortion is a horrendous sin, but it is not unpardonable. The same mercy and forgiveness David found in Psalm 51 is available to you if you've had an abortion.
There is grace at the cross.
It's really hard to explain to people who haven't learned to appreciate it how singing theologically rich hymns to modest accompaniment (or a capella!) is far more deeply emotional than most contemporary worship songs.
I don't care if it's Trump, Biden, or Lincoln—a politician should not be speaking in a church on the Lord's Day unless he is a qualified, called-out minister of the gospel preaching the Word of God.
How do you know God is present in your worship?
High emotion? People down the aisle? Miraculous signs? Glory dust?
No.
If the Word of God was present, God was present.
Funny to see people claiming that I don't believe women should be educated when my wife got her PhD in education, all while homeschooling four children.
What I'm against is women getting degrees in pastoral ministry.
A female pastor is not a thing.
The only reason you feel like raising your hands at a high point in a worship service is that your expectations have been shaped by 20th century Pentecostalism. If you lived before 1900, it wouldn't even occur to you to raise your hands while singing.
Pulpits are not the place to express an opinion about the vaccine one way or the other. Whatever you say from the pulpit must only be what can follow "Thus says the Lord."
Voted Cruz in the 2016 primary.
Voted Trump in the 2016 election.
Voted Trump in 2020.
DeSantis is my guy this year.
I don’t like Trump, but I’ll vote for him over any Democrat.
I’d have a harder time voting for Haley than Trump.
Here I stand.
Pay very close attention to who boldly celebrated the fall of Roe, who was silent, and who have half-hearted comments combined with pious advice to be sympathetic. Important lines are being drawn.
Thankful our church has been meeting as normal since May. People are free to wear masks, though most don't. We shake hands and even hug, and very few have gotten the virus. We share Communion and sing fervently, we have home Bible studies and enjoy sweet fellowship. Thankful.
Abortion is NEVER necessary. Never.
I don’t care who says it, whether a world famous evangelist, an SBC pastor, or a talking vegetable (and shame on them for saying murder is necessary).
NEVER.
If you don't believe what the Bible says about literal six day creation and a global flood, how can you believe what it says about the gospel?
John 3:12: “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”
I’m a PhD—I value scholarship when it helps to add clarity to a difficult issue. But when scholarship undermines the normal Christian’s confidence that he (or she) can simply open the Bible and understand what it says, we have lost the clarity of Scripture.
There is a bomb threat at the Convention Center. Our evening was cut short

. Many of us made our way back to the hotel lobby. Then we sang some praises to the Lord! God is always in control!
Men, just preach the Word.
Don't listen to the culture. Don't try to impress the elites. Don't worry about "contextualization." Don't integrate with worldly philosophy. Don't speak in sound bites. Don't capitulate to compromisers.
Feed the flock.
Preach. The. Word.
I trust my wife without any reservations whatsoever that she will be discerning with any book she wants to read, I trust her to assign books to our children, and I personally take her recommendations often. Just in case anyone was wondering.
If you don’t see same sex attraction as aberrant and against God’s created order to the same degree as pedophilia, then you’ve bought into the leftist anti-biblical propaganda.
You do realize the latter is coming next, don’t you?
I love the USA. I am a proud citizen of this country.
But tomorrow morning I will enter an embassy of another country where I am a truer citizen, and that country is my real home. I've been invited there by my King, and there I will give him alone my attention and allegiance.
For much of church history, Christians sang psalms with no instrumental accompaniment.
I believe we can sing more than Psalms and can use instruments, but the utter lack of Psalm singing and the fact that instruments have become so dominant should at least give us pause.
It appears that it is now cool for Evangelicals to observe Lent.
Children of the Reformation have traditionally rejected Lent. In fact, eating sausages on Lent was Swiss Reformer Ulrich Zwingli’s “95 Theses moment,” signaling his break from the Church of Rome, and other
Don't say "worship and preaching" or "worship and prayer." When you do, you equate music with worship.
It's ALL worship: preaching, prayer, singing, Scripture reading, giving, baptism, Communion.
If your church staff "needs a break" on Christmas day, here's an idea: just read Scripture, preach the Word, pray, and sing some hymns a capella.
Better yet: Do that every Lord's Day.

Why do you want God to speak to you apart from his Word?
Scripture is a prophetic word more fully confirmed than if the clouds opened and you heard God speak directly to you.
When I was ordained 20 years ago, a wise deacon asked me what I thought about the literalness of Gen 1–3. "What someone believes about the first few chapters of the Bible," he said, "tells me all I need to know about their approach to theology."
The purpose of corporate worship is not to "attract the manifest presence of God."
It's his service. He's present. He is calling YOU to worship. Your job is simply to humbly draw near through his Son
Trying to "attract the presence" is the essence of paganism.
It's very simple: There is nothing internally significant about Dec 25. It's a wonderful cultural holiday and a nice time to remember Christ's incarnation.
But there IS inherent significance to the Lord's Day.
So which takes priority, the cultural day or the Lord's Day?
They may call me a biblicist.
They may call me patriarchal.
They may call me a fundamentalist.
They may call me old fashioned.
I take all of them as compliments.
You want "womb-to-tomb" pro-life? You don't get that though socialist statism.
Here's how you get it. Promote:
1. strong biblical manhood
2. strong biblical marriage
3. abstinence until marriage
4. Christian education
5. church community / discipline
6. honoring elders
Romans 12:3 - Think with sober judgment
Gal 5:23 - The fruit of the Spirit is self-control.
1 Thess 5:6, 8 - Be sober.
1 TIm 2:9 - women should be self-controlled.
1 Tim 3:2 - An overseer is to be sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable.
1 Tim 3:8 - Deacons must be
Let's try a little test here. Please post references to the Bible's 5 strongest warnings about being too emotional in our worship or celebration of the Lord. Just 5. Or maybe 3. Or even your one strongest verse. I'm eager to see what you post. Thanks!
The COVID situation has helped us to see what is essential for worship.
Essential:
the Apostles' teaching
the breaking of bread
the fellowship
the prayers
singing to one another
meeting together
Non-essential:
flashy performance
elaborate programs
professional music productions
I support Israel, not just because they are a God’s chosen nation, but because they are a US ally and a beacon of liberty and democracy in the Middle East.
