The upshot is that this goof gave someone the opportunity to come off the alternate list and take a tactical battalion command. I bet that guy wasn’t complaining about a vaccination.
3 yrs ago on June 10, 2021, I assumed battalion command fully knowing I'd be fired soon after. I was relieved of command Oct 28, 2021 for not complying with the covid shot mandate implemented in Aug 2021.

If not for my next cdr, who invested in me personally and essentially resurrected my career, I would have been an outlier for LTC and not competitive at all for BN Command. I think about that every time I see a thread on evals and taking care of Soldiers. Take care of your folks.

Iraq, 2005. This was the first time I’d ever been in a DFAC on one of the super-FOBs. My company was in Yusufiyah. My PLT lived in a former IP station that had been blown up by a VBIED. For some reason, I had to make a run to one of the big FOBs. Maybe Victory or Anaconda?

Amazing contempt of the reserve components. Respect to him for his service in Desert Storm, but I'm not surprised he didn't stick past LT. He's an archetype. I'm guessing he would probably have been a MAJ when I was a LT. And everyone would have hated him.
To serve 24 years and then finally get the call to do something really trying -to retroactively earn all those paychecks, as it were - and then run away….to a military sensibility, it’s just unconscionable.

Guy, SSGs don’t get MSMs for doing their job. They get MSMs for far exceeding the standard expected for their rank and position. It takes a lot for a MG to give a junior NCO a MSM. Feel free to post the 638s for your MSMs, though.
