2. The van driver was 100% wrong. He mounted a kerb squeezing through a space that was too small and across a live cycle lane. 100% fact.
He did not check any blind spots or anything such as his panic to push through. Another fact.

No, no Road Tax. It was abolished in 1939. It's actually VED. And that aside, your spouting bollocks above. There is no road hierarchy as you've described. Cyclists and pedestrians have 100% the same right to use the road as ANY driver. Stick that in your RR and like it.

I use this jcn 3 times per week and there are normally lots of adults and buggies and tots on bikes here and that van driver could have run someone down with his actions. That's the main point. What happened to me personally was a non event as far as I'm concerned.

The OP was to highlight the hit and run, minor that it was, and that the van just buggered off regardless. Its the driver's actions that will be reported, but I fully expect plod, useless car brained as they are, to dismiss it. I'm reporting it anyway.

He has full legal right and use of the lane, from kerb/ verge right out to the white line. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. No driver has any higher "right" to be on any single part of any road than another, with the exception of blatant jay-walking.

In case you hadn't noticed, it was the BE driver that was likely to cause a collision, not the cyclist. And I didn't use the word accident on purpose. Your attitude is that the cyclist must be subservient to the driver. That's the mental cultural shift that needs to change.

and I tipped over as the side of the van brushed against my front wheel. There was never any intention of me pushing past or chancing going through on lhs. I'm not stupid. I cycle thousands of km annually and am fully aware of how to deal with traffic.

It's a footpath with painted lines, so that someone somewhere can state provision has been made for cyclists. If a few drivers actually cycled a few of them, they'd soon STFU. Any cyclist had to right to use any road, other than a motorway.
