The Environment Act will deliver the most ambitious environmental programme of any country on earth.
It will clean up our air and protect our rivers.
Alongside our net zero target, we’re setting an example for the rest of the world to follow at

Got my first AZ jab today (am not quite 50 but they’re expanding the rollout in various parts of England). Batch number shows it was made in India, so rest easy EU friends
Whilst Biden is proud to be Irish and Harris is rightly proud of her Indian background I certainly withdraw my reference to her as an Indian as it seems to have upset some people. I did not know her name and identified her with the term Indian. Most people understood.Racist NO.

presenter, but wtf?
Kit Malthouse, defending Rishi Sunak on BBC, says 'if you work in the US, I think you have to have a Green Card'... No, you don't. Most 'expats' who don't intend to stay forever are on temporary employment visas. Getting a Green Card is a long and costly process
For me and other brown Londoners in the 80s, ‘fucking p*ki go home’, shouted by DM-wearing skinheads threatening to kick our heads in, was par for the course. I now realise it was just friendly banter and should have laughed along

Jihyun Park shares the civic concerns of any other would-be town councillor in Britain, from local education to potholes in the roads
But she is unique in one regard: no other candidate has fled North Korea
Saw this tonight in a preview screening. It’s beautifully shot, a moving look at the triumphant highs and desperate lows of elite sport. Thanks for the invite

was slapped down by the Speaker and shown up by Starmer. But the biggest blow came from his own side when
@JakeBerry
asked him why Northern voters should believe a word he says
"Sit down Prime Minister. I'm not going to be challenged. You may be Prime Minister of this country but in this House I'm in charge."
Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle took a strong tone with Boris Johnson during

I grew up in a single-parent family where everything was scarce. Books were a luxury. Without our local libraries in London, I'd never have got into Cambridge to study English. Cut back on these services and you doom other kids to poverty, financial and intellectual, forever.
Things I have learned about the general public whilst working at the library:
1. A huge number of people under 20 can't read face clocks, having grown up with only digital one.
2. Many people don't know how to spell "library." It's in our email address. This causes problems
Morning all -- and hello new followers!
There are now twelve (and counting?) different models making seat-by-seat predictions for next Thursday's election, and while they all indicate a Labour landslide, there's a lot of disagreement in the details.
As a sepsis survivor myself, can attest to how critical it is to spot it early. One friend went undiagnosed after a blunder by a GP locum. She died, appallingly early in life
Race in Britain: It’s like the govt just commissioned a report that denies climate change. Do we in the media go back to having deniers in every story?
The new report on racism by the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities presents an existential threat to how journalists approach issues of race, racism and diversity. We must take a stand. New blog post.
He's 88 but age cannot wither John Le Carré's anger at politics today. As the UK votes, he wants everyone who cares for the truth to "join the resistance". (Speaking after giving a Xmas reading in Shaftesbury in aid of the wonderful

Lex Greensill had the run of Downing St for years, with a security pass and a business card, but 'his exact status is unclear'. Simon Case admits it was alarming
Darren Tierney says the exact status of Lex Greensill is unclear and is being looked into. He was an unpaid adviser, and they have appointment and reappointment letters. He suggest these would have been signed off by Ian watmore and Francis Maude.
