The view from the house last Thursday evening - Kintyre in the background, fishing boat heading home to Port Ellen and a bit of a haze rising off the still sea
Always great to see

MV Finlaggan coming in and out of Port Ellen. Bitterly cold day on Islay - bet they did a raring trade in eight-item cooked breakfasts this morning! 😀🍳🥓🍳🥓.
One of those end of January days when you suddenly notice it’s not dark and it’s nearly 5pm - and mild enough to kid you into thinking Spring is on its way. In Bowmore this afternoon.

Lovely day for a walk round Ardnave point and to enjoy the fabulous views up to Colonsay and Mull: we were also lucky enough to spot a rare black otter !
November on the Costa Kilnaughton, Islay - just a reminder we have availability from Nov 18 and over Christmas and New Year for our one bed guest house overlooking the bay.
Glorious winter’s day on Islay. We have lots of availability in our one-bed beachfront cottage (it’s hidden beneath the hill in the centre of this clip) from now until the end of April. Reply or DM with any queries.
The cliffs of the Mull of Oa, Islay with the Mull of Kintyre in the background. Who’d like this backdrop for a New Year’s Day walk? Our one-bed guest house is free this weekend - last-minute deal: 2 nights £300, 3 nights £350. Please RT/share with friends. DM any queries.
The final meanders of the River Laggan before it spills into the sea at the north end of the Big Strand - anyone been across that rickety wee fisherman’s bridge?

Never tire of the view as you come down to the Singing Sands ... this secluded beach is a gentle 20-minute stroll from Beach Cottage. Did we mention we have a free week in our one-bed guest house September 25-Oct 2? Dogs welcome!

Lovely quiche and salad lunch today from Islay’s newest eaterie, the Copper Still Coffee food truck in Port Ellen. Also featuring fab coffee, the best brownies you’ll ever taste and a brilliant spot to enjoy them overlooking the marina. Good luck to Mari and Joe!

Slightly different view of the bay today - from our boys ‘secret path’ into the wood at the end of the beach. We’ve had a lovely sunny morning on Islay!
I think Kilnaughton Bay on the Isle of Islay might be in the running for best weather in Britain today

albeit a wee bit nippy for June!
As our trees have started to establish themselves and the bracken and brambles have become less vigorous, the bluebells in our garden have got more spectacular every year
Still going strong after all these years - the MV Isle of Arran passing Carraig Fhada lighthouse this lunchtime. Two weeks today is the 37th anniversary of her maiden voyage.
The Singing Sands must have been one of the most sheltered spots on Islay today. Facing South SE towards Larne in Northern Ireland, it is protected from the harsh north wind. Was briefly quite pleasant before horizontal icy rain resumed! 🌧☔️🥶
On +side, we had it to ourselves 😂
