@DimagoCineStuff @HilkkaKontro @MartinMacInnis Yeah, I wish that kind of change lasted forever!! But good to know novice exercisers don't have to worry too much about how their training is distributed within a week 💪

@old_and_fast @MartinMacInnis @HilkkaKontro And now we know there is no difference in that improvement whether they clump their training together or spread it apart. Which is great to know for exercise prescription & health guidelines for the majority of the population!

@MartinMacInnis @old_and_fast @HilkkaKontro I'm glad you answered this so well Prof. MacInnis. All I could think to say was "if my mother had wheels she'd be a bicycle" 🤷♂️😅

@DimagoCineStuff @HilkkaKontro @MartinMacInnis Yes. <3 hrs/wk training baseline. Appropriate target population for "weekend warriors"

Just listening now. Great conversation. Stopped when @TLexercise said "the change in muscle size is [poorly] related to the change in strength" Just posting this as a reminder to myself. Will bring this up again soon in terms of change in VO2max and endurance performance 👀
Now online Depending on training volume and other factors: -Explosive resistance training (RT) may improve endurance performance/economy -Endurance training may not affect hypertrophy but may affect strength and speed of contraction -More research needed Thanks @TLexercise

@CloudEndu Yeah that's fair. Population-model estimates are reasonable as a starting point. If I start with a new athlete, with no other information, I'm also going to default to interpreting their HR loosely in terms of 220-age, then add precision by integrating their feedback

RT @jem_arnold: Really nice trial! VO2max improved by ~+10% in 8wks, the same for both 2 🆚 4 training sessions/wk. 30 F & M untrained parti…

@AndyBeetroot @DrMJoyner Thanks Prof. Jones. Yeah "independent" was unfair. Everything in this model is interdependent!

@andrewusher @AndyBeetroot Thanks Andrew. In your sport, how often do the athletes approach their modality-specific HRpeak/max during daily training? I could see sparring being super demanding?

@_hybridcyclist @HilkkaKontro @MartinMacInnis Cheers. Ya good to know where the minimum effective dose is, if we can't get our training in for a few days on the trot. Don't sweat it! And get back into the more consistent routine when possible💪

@lime_crush @willkirousis @AndyBeetroot @DrMJoyner Thank you both! Sincerely. I'm gonna quote you on my CV when it comes time to apply for real academic positions 😉 I'm just a student so far with great teachers and mentors myself. I appreciate this kind, curious, and generous little corner of the internet we've carved out here❤️

@MVAitor Thanks Aitor. Can we use change in HR at a target workload similarly? Basically like the Lamberts and Lambert submax cycle test LSCT I find monitoring sensations & HR during a standardised warm-up very useful for estimating fatigue and regulating the day's session
