@jem_arnold Maybe we simply default into it, as it is the most common method and requires no testing yet gives feeling of confidence that we are doing the right thing? Spikes, and not just above HRmax, are a challenge, especially with watches (either ECG or GGP) as they may be an artifact

@stevemagness It is important to look at both significance and magnitude of the effect, and the magnitude of the effect is very moderate for a "reasonable" amount of exercise.

@sweatscience The truth is in the "middle": two people performing the same relative exercise will respond similarly, but not exactly the same. In the load-stress-gain&strain relative intensity will impact mostly the load-to-stress ration, but less the sress-to-gain&strain

@jem_arnold @JimGalanes @SiMarwood Probably not: both fatigue and cardiac drift are the result of multiple causes: dehydration, carb depletion, muscle damage, neural fatigue and more, but the relative donation of each cause is different with dehydration being the most prominent cause for cardiac drift

@DrSianAllen People may start doing PA because the physician said they should (or they will die ...) or because they got a new sport watch etc., but keeping them motivated for the long run (pun intended) is a huge challenge. Wearables a tool, and important one, but not the solution

@jem_arnold @peter__leo @GregLJMU @Spragg_Perform Specifically to VO2max/VO2peak, it has its own limitations, as the biggest changes happen in novice athletes, and the changes in well trained athletes are small absolutely, and even smaller relative to measurement/estimation erros
