A woman just ran 4:07 for the mile. Faith Kipyegon took 5 seconds off the previous world record. That’s astonishing.

Decided not to study much for an exam, or skip out on practice before a big game?. Under preparation is a coping strategy for stress. It allows you to protect your ego because you didn't 'try.'. Actually putting forth effort, requires being okay confronting your limits.

Getting in shape is hard. And expectations can kill the motivation to do so. It's easy to compare yourself to some prior fitter you, but all that does is set you up for disappointment & frustration. Be kind to yourself. Try to get a little bit better from where you are right now.

Our brain is smart. You aren’t fooling it with performative stuff. And you aren’t intimidating anyone else. Prepare to perform. Intentionally dropping your core and muscle temp doesn’t help. Confidence comes from evidence not performative fake junk.

I love that everyone watches the Olympics!. But. holy crap. does it expose the once every 4 year fans, who so freaking confidently give the most absurd takes on stuff they are clueless on. It is wild how confident people can be, and yet so wrong. .

Rooks proves why you've got to give people a shot. He qualified via world rankings. He didn't have the standard. If Rooks was born in the UK. They wouldn't have selected him for the Olympics. They deny world rankings qualifiers. You never know what people can do if given a shot.

Developing endurance is simple, yet difficult. How do you get fitter aerobically? What should I worry about to get better? I get asked this question all the time. So here's the answer. From beginner to Olympian, here’s what to worry about when it comes to endurance development:.

Raygun may have singlehandedly doomed break dancing from ever being in the Olympics again. I'm half serious, but people were already skeptical of it. If you saw the top people, the athleticism may have saved it. But Raygun took the spotlight & that's what people will remember.

Running helps create two skills that are increasingly rare:. 1. When running by yourself, it helps create an ability to be alone inside of your head for a long time. 2. When running with others, you learn to fill time with conversation instead of defaulting to your phone.

I’ve read 489 books this year. Impossible? Nope. How’d I do it? Here’s the secret…. I have a toddler and most of them were kids books. If we count rereads I’m into the many thousands. Thanks for coming to my productivity back session.

Mike Woods ran 3:57 in the mile in 2005. He turned to cycling. And just won stage 9 of the Tour de France. Pretty amazing.

It's not about impressive workouts. It's about stacking week after week, month after month, of good solid hard work. Give me months on end of solid consistent work over some lights out workouts, any day.

Track and Field = King of shooting itself in its own foot. Biggest star in the sport? Nah. let's NOT have her compete at the biggest post Olympics meet. Look, qualifying for events like the Olympics matters. But the Diamond League final is not the Olympics. Let her run.

This is wild. At India's Delhi state meet, athletes heard doping control was coming. So they didn't show up. 1 out of 8 finalists ran the 100m. In the steeple, a runner finished & kept running. Doping control chased her down. EPO found in the bathroom.

A few thoughts on @EliudKipchoge's performance. It's hard to get across how fast a sub 2hr marathon is. 4:33 mile pace. But what does that mean? An NCAA All-American distance runner would struggle to keep up with him for 6 miles of the 26.2.
