@BmoreOrganized @judgementshae That’s good that they have antidepressants too, but every single HIMS ad I’ve seen focus on hair loss or ED, and I’ve only seen HERS ads for the antidepressants. I think it’s more a critique of their marketing rather than which meds they carry.

@NOTANIDLETHREAT It’s also buck wild to say “we didn’t choose to live together” when you CHOSE to be a foster parent. While I’m sure fostering is an unimaginably difficult process, she is completely treating it as a burden and not something done for the child’s well-being. It’s so gross.

It’s wild to me how Central Texas is touted as such a major technology and innovation hub but we can’t rely on our outdated power grid to hold if temperatures dip below freezing. I’m so sick of the Republican chokehold on my home state. Texans deserve better.
I’m no therapist, but the more people I talk to, it is clear how much anger, fear and PTSD people have from the 2021 winter storm. Forecasters say this pending freeze won’t be as bad, but the mind (including my own) is transporting us back to the darkest — and coldest — of days.

@bensonvalues My Texas public school history textbooks from the mid-to-late 2000s beg to differ. Or, you know, Utah in 2021. Or Florida. Or the countless other examples from various states from the past several years that can be found with some simple Googling.

This is the thing. Unless she comes out and says “I’m 100% straight”, based on these visuals, I think it would be weird NOT to assume she’s queer if you have any knowledge of queer imagery/flagging. This isn’t even going into lyrical analysis, posts, or private life speculation.

@Imani_Barbarin I made the mistake at looking at the replies to that thread. Ugh. I don’t understand how basic empathy and the most surface-level accommodating protocols are apparently so hard for people.

YEP. Ever since my disability developed I cannot get into the exam chair by myself and they just… don’t have an alternative? Like I get it would be expensive to change out *all* the chairs in the practice to mechanical, but throw us a fucking bone.

@boogey782 Have you never had a teacher change their title from Ms. [Name] to Mrs. [Name]? No teachers that were pregnant? No teachers that wore wedding rings or mentioned a spouse even in passing? No teachers that mentioned their own children? No teachers that wore a cross necklace?.

@ChelsNels07 Unfortunately, many workplaces require PCR results. While it’s true that rapid tests are more affordable, there is a large portion of the public that specifically need to get PCR tests.

@HausCrashBurn Exactly! Literally *ANY* procedure has risk/side effects. Dental procedures have risk, but ppl don’t view them as threats to masculinity. Do you know what also has risk that is often far more complex & common? Hormonal birth control, IUDs, hysterectomy, pregnancy, birth, etc….

@BentleyBearCOR Gotcha, and fair point. Would be an optimal spot for innovation though, as successfully pulling off high speed rail between the two would be revolutionary and a boon for the area.

@omswarth Not quite as jarring, but I just found out that the name Amanda dates back to the 13th century. I was kind of taken aback hearing it used in a Regency-era book and then when I looked it up I was even more surprised. Excellent example of the Tiffany problem.

@sinz54 @EbonyJHilton_MD Long Covid is just one example of post-viral illnesses. I developed nearly all of these after having mono. If you truly have most of these symptoms continuously and acquired them around the same time, I highly suggest looking into why that may be.

@ColeEscola My grandfather died in his house at his 85th birthday party while ALL of my family members were there. My boyfriend was also there, meeting 16 members of my family at once, and got vaguely hit on by my grandma as her husband was dying. I won $10 from a scratch-off that day too.

@mtripleup ESPECIALLY when she's not even that niche of a celebrity - has roles in large franchises and was even an Oscar nominee. I feel like boomers see a young celebrity (especially young women) they don't know and assume they are just an "influencer".

@AP This is horrific for us that AREN’T healthy. As a chronically ill American, this needlessly jeopardizes us. I seriously hope people still consider masking up to protect the vulnerable people in their lives, bc this pandemic has continually shown that we’re an afterthought.

@Komarus_Huey They are completely different types of vaccines. J&J is a viral vector vaccine and Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA vaccines, meaning there is no basis for concern for the safety of the other two vaccines just based on the data they are reporting for J&J.

@autisticlor When Midnights dropped I thought it was 100% a breakup album (especially because of Bejeweled and it was even further reinforced by the music video) and I was shocked the official breakup announcement didn’t come until last month.

@jduffyrice I had cyclical vomiting syndrome that my gastros couldn’t pinpoint the cause of. Not being able to hold down food/water for DAYS at a time every three weeks. In-home IVs galore. Getting my IUD out got rid of 75% of my vomiting and then a hysterectomy that took care of the rest.

@ShadowTodd I feel like even though Black Sheep is their best known song, I don’t think it is a Metric signature song as much as “the Scott Pilgrim song”. I think Help I’m Alive or Combat Baby is more of a signature song for them that doesn’t have the weight of a popular movie behind it.

@ncrmalpeople As a reminder, while you can find a lot of classics audiobooks on YouTube, if you have a library card you most likely have access to audiobooks via your digital library or @LibbyApp. There are tons of audiobooks narrated by celebs but professional narrators are excellent too!.

@alienslime God, when I came out to my mom in hs, she all but said she was bi. She went on and on and ON about this one woman she found attractive at the gym she went to in the 90s. I was impressed by the lingering intensity of her (at the time) twenty year crush.

@metroids224 That was an extremely short-sighted idea though, especially with how relatively easy it would be for the CDC or some other governmental org to create a digital/QR-based database for something as important as this. The point is how rushed and shoddily executed the cards are.

@boogey782 Kids are naturally curious. If Ms. [maiden name] marries over break and comes back as Mrs. [married name], don’t you think 8 year olds are going to ask about her new spouse? What about a pregnant teacher? I’m genuinely curious about how oblivious or uncurious you think kids are.

@Artists_Ali It QUICKLY devolves into ableism and fatphobia, even if they deny it. If I had $1 for every time fitness people suggested (unsolicited) that yoga/eating “clean”/what have you would fix my chronic issues (many of them GENETIC), I’d have enough money to afford my medical bills.

There are cathedrals everywhere for those without the corrective lenses to see.
just thought about the girl who, in her 20s, tried on my glasses as a joke and realized she needed glasses. she thought architectural details on buildings was a purely artistic "to please God" type thing, that people would just think about, but like her be unable to actually see.

I understand the genesis of these “cutesy” censored words since they were meant to get around strict content rules on TikTok, but it is so weird when people unironically do it other places. Like… I PROMISE that you don’t have to censor the word “suicide” on Reddit, babes.
the weird zoomer thing of censoring words in instagram and tiktok posts is so funny. how viral are you anticipating going that you're willing to type out "seggs".

@ellle_em This is Tipper. When we first rescued her from a barn we had to take her on a road trip through Texas. We decided to let her use a grass patch outside a vacant mall to pee (no traffic) but she ran underneath our parked car. A biker gang stopped and helped us out. Lil badass kitty

@WasOnceLoved @frembia @shall001 I think you may be misunderstanding this entire interaction/the colloquial usage of “I bet”, so I’m just going to stop engaging. You are correct that in this situation it wasn’t known, but that original reply was meant to showcase a fairly common occurrence for non-male academics.

@frembia @WasOnceLoved @shall001 Exactly- I’ve seen it happen time and time again to non-male academics. I feel like it’s a trend I’ve seen happen enough where it isn’t a reflection of personal prejudice, but rather an observation of a situation that many non-male academics have reported themselves.

@book_struggles Also the prevalence of YA from grown adults. I’m sure there’s some deserving YA out there, but it’s weird when the only recommendations coming from a grown-ass adult are YA novels. Like… what’s the deal with that?.

@candlelightera Yeah - everything from the 70s/80s onward is cheaply made and a shitload of landlords drag their feet on making the necessary improvements/upkeep on everything older than that. Everything will eventually be paper tissues unless you are fortunate enough to be a homeowner.

@Artists_Ali And that’s not even mentioning the issues of ascribing morality to fitness, ability and a perverse sense of “discipline”. I get it! I played sports in hs/college! Before my chronic issues/disabilities kicked into high gear I’d jog a bunch. But good god don’t push it on others.
