@GabbyKlein1 they have set spokespeople because not everybody is instantly eloquent when an outside actor tries to do an impromptu interview. we've seen plenty of people shooting videos like this with the express intent of finding wacky people to platform. talk to the spokespeople for.

@meme_space_nine it's more "why didnt IH just say his video was adapted from a mental floss article" because you can do that. he could have contacted the author(s) before publishing his video and talked to them. you're only looking at this as "well from here, after Everything has happened and is.

@StepheniaOmeh @EricFrohnhoefer they're not feudal lords, they don't have a divine right to manage. if employees think criticizing leadership in public is acceptable or right, management needs to think about how much of their own behavior leads to that, rather than default to a firing squad. it's a bad sign.

@GabbyKlein1 is it weird? kind of. but it's also weird to go put together a video like this, in which one specifically edits out what doesn't fit a narrative instead of letting the uncut footage speak for itself. like, if he really cares to know, why doesn't he talk to the spokespeople?.

@jbouie i think the point that we should mention in stuff like this is that a lot of police training focuses on escalation as a method of "shocking" the suspect into compliance, coupled with basically learning to not trust anyone who isn't a cop. they're trained for violent paranoia.

@sage0194029379 @drewmorgcomedy Well, there are farms that use prison labor, the fire fighters in California, and a variety of smaller tasks that are necessary like making license plates, etc. with value of prison labor being about a billion dollars. plus, theyre not paid a lot and are thus very profitable.

@UpdatingOnRome Some Possibly Apocryphal Diogenes "The Cynic" of Sinope Stories. - Diogenes heard Plato defined a "man" as a featherless biped. Big D plucked a chicken and brought it to Plato's school, proclaiming, "Behold! I have brought you a man!" (but probably in ancient Greek or something).

@temporaryreject @tahukann @Confusionmoder it's an incredibly vague document for a law, mostly because it was probably written in an afternoon and blitzed through to capitalize on a political moment. it seems to rely on a reader filling in the blanks with their own "common sense," which is why it may seem clear initially.

@BadMedicalTakes plus i get the feeling that cooking the raw ingredients, even if they somehow got contaminated fluids on them, would prevent any sort of transmission. also we usually don't eat by shoving food up our asses. I think it's fairly hard for HIV to survive a stomach acid bath.

@insectmom @BadMedicalTakes this is really the most salient point. we not only know how HIV is transmitted, but we also have treatments and precautions to prevent transmission and hinder its progress. people with HIV aren't radioactive or whatever.
