Heads up to anyone thinking of supporting/playing Palworld who also cares about genAI issues... The CEO of that studio is full speed ahead on generative AI, frequently promotes it and tries to push its use in his studio. Even made a game focused entirely around it using SD.

@h_wallacepires When I found out not everyone can just sort of visualize the object rotating in their head I was surprised, and some people can't even visualize at all. But there are always ways around that like this useful trick. Don't let anything hold you back from practicing art!

Well that certainly doesn't instill confidence that they made the designs themselves. It's no wonder most of them look like existing Pokemon. This post was made only a few months after Palworld was announced.

@m0nst3r1nks @IzzzyzzzArt @arvalis @Snartles A few minutes to give some text prompts that it generates art from in minutes versus an artist that can take days or weeks, hmm, yes I'm sure companies definitely won't find that worth it. It's not just about where it's at now, you're pretending this won't continue to improve.

@ZER0_3D @vydamo_ @_jwall If it really "reflects an extension of our personality", they wouldn't dump it just because it's not worth lots of money now. Or I guess in that sense, maybe it does reflect their personality, one that only really values money.

@1vank3434 @SkrawnyJ @ianmcque Nothing they said was wrong. These AI are trained on art taken from the internet without consent, without the real art training data, it wouldn't produce anything at all. Yes it doesn't just directly copy the work, but it's still essentially just blending/warping a ton of art.

@MikeMcL00531595 @ChristophSolar Everyone has to do their part. You're giving the same argument a child gives when they see another kid doing something bad & asks why they can't do it too. It doesn't matter if Canada's impact is small, it's about doing the right thing & supporting that change sooner than later.

@HollytWolf @The_Doc_Dude @Sketchapotamus @henseat @Amouranth You realize that what defines porn is context/behavior, right? It's not just about the bikini, it's about intent. Primary intent here's to titillate & nothing else, it's not a day out at the public beach doing activities. Alone in a room earning money showing off your body, porn.

@QuestInterest @Chanzlyn This is actually somewhat untrue. The main reason heavy lifters have big stomachs is due to the mass quantity of food they eat to maintain mass, stretching their stomach. They also tend not to practice stomach vacuums that strengthen inner muscles which pull the belly in.

@Enojadoland @legotrillermoth Protein is much harder to put weight on with. It takes the body significant energy to convert it to fat stores, and only a small part of protein can be. Without carbs your body will be in heavy ketosis, which means it will be burning fats for energy instead of glucose.

@PinkHairedCoder @ArionMiitoons @shadmbrooks @clif89lee That's where this thing called "human collaboration" comes in, and should be the post-scarcity goal we strive for so people can maintain a sense of purpose and fulfillment in society. Not dive head-first into a culture of instant gratification through a "give me content" button.

@SuperTiso @JakeSucky Yeah. But I would wager almost everyone has a mic of some sort these days... so don't see it being much of an issue.

@ChainLeftist @Renea4131 @eevee All NFT is doing is adding a layer of bullshit on top that allows for much easier art theft and the use of illicit money and speculative purchasing that will end up in many people "holding the bag". Most artists do not want to be part of what is essentially a pyramid scheme.

@GUXSquallNoctis The Spiderman/Wolverine *series* really set up global recognition for the Marvel brand, not just among comic lovers. It put Marvel forefront & center in the public's minds in a way it never really was put before. Blade was an iconic movie for sure, but not seen as Marvel to most.

@RadarFennec @DougTenNapel Your friend having a less toxic use of it doesn't magically make all the negatives about it go away. There are serious ethical issues to address, regardless of "how my friend uses it".

@henningsanden Softimage really was a thing of beauty with how it operated too, ahead of its time. So much lost potential from Autodesk fearing them and buying them out just so they could dissolve the team and product.

@javier_aeoa @AceCatLady @mediajunkette @clarissajanlim How can you possibly breath with that tiny extra bit of pressure on your chest? Clearly seatbelts are an infringement on my rights.

@IiiJaca @DUSKdev Yes, we should all strive to act as a cookie cutter example of classic "masculinity" where we show little emotion. That has done wonders for male suicide rates.

@Hyo_Joestar @ayperosia It's not about it affecting her financially. It really baffles me how so many think that's the point of the boycott, it's such a surface level view. The point is to indicate to JK that the majority are not on her side, she has expressed that the continued success proves her right

@707KAT @TylerGlaiel Unlocking one might not be, but not having certain heroes can be detrimental. It reduces your ability to counter-pick or choose a hero that best synergizes with the rest of the team.

@kogomat @movalex @FreyaHolmer To expand on that, basically in a situation where a bevel would have to subdivide, such as an inset bevel, Maya at least tries to do some of the grunt-work for you in keeping quads at the subdivision. Here is a clip of cycling bevel segments in Blender and then Maya.

@illinar @NickDCarver Spoken like someone who isn't an artist and has no concept of the human mind's creative process. There's so much more involved than just taking from past imagery. It's process of emotion, personality, physicality, quantum mechanics and history. Consciousness allows true creation.
