Hot boy summer ☀️
Forge frenzy edition 🛠️
Lfgggggg 🧵
Day 1/92:
- abs and pullups workout
- improved pathfinding in a pet project
- going to friends' wedding party
This was a middle class home in the early 1100s
A single income family could afford this on the salary of a man working in the military logistics business
I think what gets us here is similar to the main feature of good art: it touches the regions of embedding space that is not easily covered with words. That's the source of the intangibility of the feelings it evokes.
Just realized:
@Replit
is like an RPG now. You can join barehanded, do some paid work to collect bounties, then buy powerups (Boost, GPU) or hire companions (Ghostwriter) so that you can do even more for more bounties. Will there be other companions,
@amasad
?
Idea: a math retreat for people with math traumas from school. 2 weeks in a comfy countryside cottage with math tutors who never yell at you and a psychologist. You can solve problems on your own, ask for help, and listen to clear and explicit explanations of basic topics.
5/ Morse code decoding helper
Actually, I think it's also easier to learn to encode in Morse code with this chart since you can remember where each letter is located spatially
I'm 34 today and it's the strongest I've ever been in my life, both physically and mentally. I love my friends and family, I'm working on ambitious projects, and there is the world of bliss and wonder to explore. Let's go!
The Beginning of Infinity by
@DavidDeutschOxf
, chapter-by-chapter summary + my own quick notes & references that came to mind when reading. Four chapters in, I can say I love this book already. Recommend
Chapter 1, The Reach of Explanations
I don't want to overhype it but so far, Introspect is in the same tier for me as The Beginning of Infinity. And I have said that TBoI might be the most important book of the millennium

Дело же не в логичности, а в том, что числа в названиях участвуют в формировании культурного кода. В какой-нибудь игре увидеть спецодежду с числом 451 и вообще не заметить отсылки, например.
What's a collection of 10 or less books that cover 80% of human history well enough? Especially interested in replies from

Alright I want to investigate why I cannot get a job. It's been several months and dozens of applications, and I've only had two screening interviews and one technical. I have 11 years of experience (7 frontend, 4 ML) and although I've applied mostly to non-ML jobs I don't get it

@paulg
That's understandable but doesn't make them correct, even if that wish is very consistent for many. It's time to learn how to manage remote teams properly.
You have two (and only two) options:
A. Make a poll that will be eventually featured in NYT and will change game-theoretical priors of millions of people, pushing humanity closer to chaos and eternal damnation, OR
B. Do nothing and let the world live peacefully
Architect of Thought 🧵
I believe we can expand the frontiers of our minds. We can become more computationally efficient and better learners. I'm starting a community of people who dare to challenge their minds. You are welcome!

Still cannot say that living in peaceful solitude, away from the world, is wholesome and not a pleasant rationalization of moral defeat

's JavaScript course. It's refreshing to get a new perspective on the language you have known for so long. Recommend.
"I still get lost sometimes. But I know how to find my way back."

I also have a funny one that I call the Hero Journey Hypothesis:
4/ The DM of our world doesn't think I should work as a hired specialist anymore and instead should build stuff myself or start a company and go that way. And I'm currently in the Refusal of the Call step

Mocking, or laughing at your opponents is one of the worst means of convincing them. Nonetheless, so many people resort to those so often. It is especially dangerous as the consequences shall affect all of us.
