There is no GENUINE pilot shortage in AUS pleanty of pilots on airline wait lists. This is all about reducing pay and conditions and backdooring AUS fatigue & operational regimes. NZ & other pilots are forced to fly longer hrs for less money & reduced flight ops regulations.

CFA did a great job! Fires are emotional incidents & we would often get grabs from distrought residents while covering serious fires in Blue Mtns ACT Vic; Most just dont understand the 'strategy' side of firefighting & are upset/in shock. For that reason we don't put them to air

For the second day running Victoria's lack of air attack has seen a heli fly more than 200kms to a fire this time in in Gippsland because the state is NOT prepared. (Thankfully a proactive heli operator was ready) Time for a rethink on air attack - needs to be under the control
