At 3am officers did an emergency forced entry. The suspect opened fired at officers. At that time officers did NOT fire back. At 3:01 SWAT was called to assist.

Austin City Council leaders took 4 of the 6 downtown officers for their guard duty. Except for @mkelly007, they are all anti cop so let them do without!.
Were you downtown today and needing police but no one responded? Our downtown dayshift had only 6 officers and 4 got pulled to go guard city council. So only 2 officers were available to answer 9-1-1 calls. Officers want to help Austinites - the City wants body guards.
