This excessive show of force was a bad move by DPS, UTPD, & APD last week, & it's a bad move today. Protestors had their charges dropped for a reason - bc these have been lawful, peaceful protests. Yet again, we are seeing Abbott target our First Amendment rights in real time.

I'm dismayed to see APD on campus. Our tax dollars shouldn't be used to violate students' right to assemble. @CMChitoVela , @RyanAlter , & I have requested an executive session legal briefing on APD's role in the UT campus protests. We need clear answers on APD's involvement.

🎉 Happy Council Meeting Day! Proud that we passed a resolution to demand a more equitable vision of TxDOT’s I-35 expansion. Additionally, this morning we honored Betty J. Swint, the first Black woman firefighter to serve in Austin, and got a visit from our colleagues in Dallas!

So great to break bread with @RepCasar , @hunterforAISD , and other fantastic community leaders yesterday. A great discussion of ways to collaborate on all levels to deliver results on homelessness, the climate, transit, education, and other issues that matter to all Austinites.

To all our Austin citizens who are furious about the ongoing power outage, you’re right. There must be accountability.

Spent a beautiful Austin night with neighbors at our 6th stop during our district town hall tour. I appreciated hearing from constituents about issues ranging from helping our unhoused neighbors to STRs to Zilker Park. Together we can build an Austin that works for everyone!
