Since Austin's firefighters union (@AFA975) supported DA José Garza in 2020, arson cases are up 100% and arson in fields/woods is up 400%. A looming catastrophe stemming from effectively decriminalizing homeless fires. Question: Does the union still support him?

Austin city government spent $1.9 million on DEI salaries in 2023. For context, a rookie Austin cop makes around $70k/year. In other words, Austin could afford about 26 more police officers if it simply eliminated a racist and unconstitutional office.

On Austin City's DEI website, in beautiful magenta font, the Chief Equity Officer's first name is misspelled (it's Tamela) since at least June of last year. I'm sure everything else in the office is A+ work.

KXAN's story on Austin's package theft epidemic misses key data: Mail theft up 53% since DA Jose Garza and CA Delia Garza office took over in 2021. Thieves aren’t stupid. They know that they will face minimal consequences under the current regime.
Holiday season package theft numbers in Austin. The Austin Police Department lumps package thefts into mail theft, and says it received 399 reports in November and December.

Under DA José Garza's first term (2021-2024), aggravated robberies by assault increased 30% compared to previous 4 yrs. His office routinely pleads violent felonies down or diverts offenders, who often reoffend. Last year recorded 26 cases — the highest in 13 years.

Are auto thefts still illegal in Austin? . • Pre-Garza: 6.8 cars stolen per day.• Under Garza: 15 cars stolen per day.• 121% increase in average thefts. Your car is more than 2X more likely to be stolen under Garza. Word's clearly gotten out that our DA won't prosecute them.
I know he looks innocent, but guy who just tried to steal cop car has 3 prior car thefts.• 2022: Reduced to misdemeanor.• 2023: Dismissed.• 2024: Pending/free on bond. Prosecutors reduced/dismissed all felonies so far (incl. F2 meth & felon w/ firearm). So why would he stop?

Hey, Austin reporters. My follower is right. Just crib my stuff and start covering important crime stories in a substantive way. I don't even need credit for it. We can all pretend you did it yourself. ;).

Austin fields/woods arson incidents jumped 400% since Garza became DA. Arsonists are dangerous criminals. Why so many roaming Austin? Each incident risks catastrophic wildfire in our drought-prone grasslands/juniper woodlands. We’re all living in Garza’s little tinderbox.
Austin ranks 5th highest for wildfire risk in US, with 95k homes at risk. Meanwhile, arson offenses have spiked +93% under DA Garza (avg 170/year) vs pre-Garza years (88/year). 2023 hit record 211 offenses, with most arsons targeting residential homes.

Austin DA José Garza doesn't like prosecuting felonies. Case in point: Dan McClain. Pre-Garza: 3 of 5 felonies → prison. Garza: 10 felonies → every charge dismissed or reduced to misdemeanor jail time.
Austin’s Dan McClain hit Marshall’s 3x in 2 weeks. After release, hit Home Depot next door 2x in 4 days. 38 charges (including 7 felonies in 4 months):.•13 dismissals.•19 plea deals.•6 bundled away.•0 trials. Out of jail now & back on street, or perhaps Marshall's.

The victim in Austin's 3rd homicide of year, 23-year-old Chivalos Lockett, had 6 active criminal cases. Reminder that an environment that tolerates crime has a way of turning even criminals into homicide victims. There are only losers when rogue prosecutors win elections.

One person definitely happy with José + Delia Garza is repeat offender Jamil White. His odds of charges being declined jumped from 11% to 67% under their term (2021-present). Declined-to-prosecute rate: .• Pre-Garza: 11% (2 of 18 cases).* Garza's term: 67% (6 of 9 cases)
Despite sex offense w/14-y.o. girl (Iowa), Austin prosecutors repeatedly punt on Jamil White. Among his 30 Austin arrests:.• 8 indecent exposures.• Injury to child/elderly/disabled (declined).• Assault on officer (reduced). 17 plea deals. 8 "stay away" orders. 0 trials.

Austin spent $11M+ on rehab programs, shifting $$ from police, yet crime soared. Similar 60s-70s “root cause” efforts spiked crime. Evidence shows “swift-and-certain” punishment, like immediate short jail time, works better for curbing repeat drug offenders.
Nope. This is what happens when you have a failed system with no mechanism for rehabilitation and getting sober. This isn't on the prosecutors.

What do you notice?
How to cut Austin homicides in half:. Step 1: Double jail bookings. Step 2: Enjoy the park—you’re done!. 2014-15: 50k bookings & 27 homicides/yr.2021-24: 27k bookings & 76 homicides/yr. Austin has an under-jailing crisis. The solution: enforce the law and prosecute criminals.
