Have you ever seen the City of Austin work this hard? This was done by volunteers, not the City, and it’s the City
#ATXCouncil
(10 of 11) that’s ignoring the law and allowing this to happen!
#TXLege
Spent 5 hours with volunteers cleaning up an abandoned homeless encampment off Lakecreek and Pecan Park for the HOA. We removed 21 shopping carts full of trash and debris. Proud of our community's effort to keep our neighborhood clean. 1/2
As Mayor of Austin beginning in 2022, I'm going to lead and keep Council focused on what we are charged to do: competently manage and fund core municipal services, such as APD/AFD/EMS, water, waste, electricity, roads, and parks. (1 of 3)
Barton Creek Greenbelt Encampment.
Post city cleanup efforts. The city has not been able to make it this far down yet.
Can you believe this? Lots of folks living here.
NOTE: Prop B passing is a SOUND REPUDIATION OF THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL. Nevertheless, we still want a version of
#HB1925
passed by the
#TXLege
, because
#ATXCouncil
cannot be counted on to implement Prop B in good faith.
Research @ Ohlen. Oh, and the condition of the roads in Austin is worse than a 3rd world country - especially on Shoal Creek between Northland & Hancock. SO. MANY. POTHOLES. ALL. OVER. TOWN. (Nary a bike in sight in all of those bike lanes, either. 🙄)
I gotta believe Larry Ellison and Oracle got tired of
#ATXCouncil
’s Woke B.S. I mean what was the point of that deal to buy/trade land with the COA? Naa, Ellison got tired of Riverside being unsafe and not being cleaned up. Everything wokesters touch turns to 💩.
It is unacceptable that while violent crime is on the rise in Austin, our City Council has unanimously moved to cut the budget for our first responders.
Austin cannot afford another tax increase.
#atxcouncil
gets plenty of new $$ from increases in sales tax + property taxes on new development before raising our tax bills by $1.
RT if you think we need better fiscal management and the Mayor & Council to live within its means.
BREAKING: Kirk Watson appears to have won the runoff election to be Austin's next mayor.
Watson, unofficially, defeats Celia Israel by under 900 votes.
In Travis County, Israel topped Watson by just 17 votes, but Watson won big in Williamson County.
BIGGEST LOSER OF THE NIGHT? - Greg Casar - His brain child Public Camping & Panhandling everywhere & all hours Soundly Rejected by Voters, his lust for public campaign finance to be extended to non-citizens Rejected by Voters, and his prospect as a Strong Mayor Soundly Rejected.
"Why Is Everything Closing in Austin Right Now?"
Taxes, taxes, taxes. Higher and higher by
#ATXCouncil
. Passed on to renters and consumers until it's no longer affordable. Zoning doesn't help with that.
#TXLege
The illegally worded, voted on Project Connect is going down in flames. Oh, that will soon be a glorious day! Shame on all the liars who tried to get this by the voters improperly. Lookin’ at you, Kirk & Steve.
#ATXCouncil
#TXLege
That's not a *budget.*
@AustinISD
A budget balances.
"AISD board...approved a $1.2 billion 'budget' with a $41 million deficit...hinges on voters approving a property tax increase in November...If voters reject a higher tax rate...would balloon to $78 mil"
*CUT TAXES*
#TXLege
That Work Session was a cluster. They have no idea how to implement Prop. B nor how to spend the federal stimulus money resp (Item1). Not to mention the mask mandate covered earlier today that
@GovAbbott
struck down.
#ATXCouncil
is totally out of sync w/ public sentiment.
#TXLege
TODAY: One of the Adler
#ATXCouncil
acquired hotels at more than 3x market value (w/ all costs) still not being used for the homeless after more than 2 years. (Plus some weird graffiti still on the property) Other hotel paid too much for also not being used is
@MOVEcandlewood
.
The people who helped elect
@MayorAdler
are not supporting me. They are supporting my opponents. If you are happy with the current mayor and direction of the city, vote for one of them. If you want something different from the mayors office, consider voting for me.
This is inhumane to Austin taxpayers, their families, and the environment! It's time to start enforcing the law! From all over the country, Austin is a magnet for the mentally-ill & drug addicted, because of back-to-back liberal far-left “progressive” Mayors
@KirkPWatson
...
Let's raise the homestead exemption to 20%.
Let's reinstate the cadet classes and fully fund APD.
Let's treat our first responders with respect again.
Let's reimagine City Council.
#VoteForVirden
to make this happen!
"On Dec. 7,
#ATXCouncil
passed Phase 1 of “H.O.M.E.” They did so despite overwhelming opposition from the public:
- 86% of the emails sent to City Hall opposed the plan
- 60% of the speakers at the Dec. 7 meeting opposed it
- 15,000 Austinites filed formal protests against it"
I'm honored and excited to now have the support and endorsement of TWO former Austin Mayors.
Both Ron Mullen and Lee Leffingwell have endorsed my campaign.
I won't let you down!
If there is anything to remember about
#ATXCouncil
's
#HOMENext2
it is this. It will not make homes more affordable, but that is not the real intention. The City's unstated intention is to increase the value of underlying land so that governing bodies can collect more
#TAXES

PROGRESS…just in time for the election! All illegal camps and trash UNDER 183 North between Great Hills and Spicewood Springs-McNeil are cleaned up. Still camp and trash at Steck & MoPac. Citizen initiated Prop. B is working! LET’S DO THE SAME WITH PROP. A!
#VOTEFORPROPA

OMG! “Independent”? Sounds like
#ATXCouncil
sloughing off responsibility for a problem they made worse! And the budget, how much shall it be and who’s really responsible? ATP redux? Whose “bright idea” was this? Lookin’ at you, Kirk!
I agree with our previous mayor, Lee Leffingwell, when he says that “public safety is the City’s number one priority. If you don’t feel safe in your home and on the streets, nothing else matters.” That’s why he endorsed me for the District 10 Council seat.
Traces of Texas reader Julie Campbell graciously shared this dynamite photo of Congress Avenue in downtown Austin back in 1962. This was taken by Julie's father, who took thousands of slides during his travels with the Air National Guard. Julie says she's going to send some more
I'm proud to have been endorsed by the Austin Police Association
@ATXPOA
!
Making sure our first responders are funded is my top priority. Nothing is more important than the safety of our communities.
Handwriting is on the wall. Local taxes are too high & going higher in Austin. Recently elected officials have not improved the situation, if anything they are accelerating the unsustainable negative cost of living trends. Residents know it and are leaving in increasing numbers.
Austin’s leftist policies are beginning to take a toll—causing residents to leave.
They are experiencing what San Francisco has experienced.
If they don’t change, it won’t end well.
There are other cities in Texas that provide attractive options.
Greg Casar has a grossly inflated sense of himself. He seems to think that people around the country care what he thinks or even know who he is. He wants to be like BHO.
Young, inexperienced, and misguided members of
#ATXCouncil
(
@RyanAlter
) are not following Watson’s ‘lead’ nor listening to the public and want to press ahead with direction to City Staff on July 18th for a billion dollar bond on “climate issues” to be on the November 2024 ballot.
Dirty E. 6th. Was
@KathieTovo
's pet project to improve.
#ATXCouncil
continues to slow walk NO SOLUTION.
@KirkPWatson
has DONE NOTHING. Becoming an absolutely filthy, dangerous, destitute locale.
Austinites are NEVER electing
@KathieTovo
to anything ever again. Her judgement evidenced in these pictures was horrendous, discriminatory and unscientific, playing a medical doctor from the dais with her advice. We are never doing that again. (1 of 3)

So far, since yesterday,
@KirkPWatson
has not released any statement about the attempt on the former President's life. He's counting on getting conservative votes in November and December; he'll need them to win, as he is not popular in East and Central Austin (see 2022).
KABOOM: “An explosive internal report quietly filed by City of Austin staffers sharply contradicts claims made by supporters of
#ATXCouncil
's so-called
#HOME
initiative” - CNC
The Report:
When I am Mayor, we will fully enforce the ban on camping and boost APD staffing to better respond to crimes and enforce our existing laws.
This is just common-sense stuff that Austin needs.
Man attacked by machete in Southeast Austin near homeless camp. This is the third recent incident on this corner involving a machete according to a neighborhood business owner.
DISAPPOINTING: Adler’s State of the City Address was defensive, accusatory, backward looking and revisionist. Spoke nothing of some of the big unaddressed policy issues. Shot of the small audience:
BREAKING: Save Our Springs Wins TRO Against City of Austin Speaking Limits, "a temporary restraining order requiring the
#ATXCouncil
to provide up to 3 minutes per item for each speaker at its April 18th Austin City Council meeting." Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Kirk!
The median ATX taxpayer will pay $12k. With inflation & gas prices, this increase is unsustainable for many.
As Mayor I would fight to:
Increase the senior HS exemption.
Adopt a no-new taxes tax rate.
Review all city expenses & programs.
Solve the recapture problem.
COA: "This morning the encampment [near the Violet Crown Trail] was formally declared closed, and a work zone has been designated while an extensive cleanup process is underway. The clean-up effort, which is expected to take several weeks..."
Are you happy with the direction Austin is heading? If not, and you would like to do things differently, please vote for me on November 8th.
Early voting is happening now.

What a White Washed POS! Says nothing about the widespread unsanctioned and illegal camping pollution allowed in Austin watersheds by the City. Press release today: Report:

Our elected officials in Austin are failing us. Mayor Adler campaigned on raising the homestead exemption to 20%. That hasn’t happened. Meanwhile, both Alison Alter and Mayor Adler supported Prop A and raising your property taxes.
#ATXCouncil
voted to buy this hotel back in JAN. 2021. It’s DEC. 2021, and STILL VACANT, UNUSED! In the private sector you would be out of business if you got things done that slowly, or not at all. Meanwhile, homeless camp a few hundred yards away. (Paid ~$7M, appraised ~$2M)
Jennifer Virden has made her priorities clear throughout her campaign. If you are interested in Austin having lower property taxes, the camping ban being enforced and more police staffing, vote for Jennifer Virden on November 8th.

This year there were over 100 unfilled positions and officers were working overtime to cover them. Studies show that we are currently ~500 officers short in Austin.
Tonight, we will know the results of the election and who our next City Council member for District 10 will be.
I want to thank everyone for their support and for believing in me and what I stand for...
In its biggest decision on homelessness in decades, the U.S. Supreme Court today ruled that cities can ban people from sleeping and camping in public places. The justices, in a 6-3 decision, overturned lower court rulings that deemed it cruel and unusual to punish people for

@MayorAdler
Better hurry & get these 100's of filthy campsites cleaned up, or creekside/watershed trash/needles/feces like this will be washing directly into our waterways - for the umpteenth time. I can't wait to have your job, so we can RESTORE AUSTIN'S BEAUTY!
From the road you would never know any of this was here. Very well hidden. The first big rain and it will all go into Lake creek. Every bit. Environmental disaster.

Our City Council and Mayor both unanimously supported Prop A and increasing your property taxes.
I'd like to make Austin more affordable for you.
Let's raise the homestead tax exemption to 20% like
@MayorAdler
once promised to do during his campaign.

Amityville guvment still has 3-4 more days of tourism they need to salvage. “Amity is a summer town. We need summer dollars. Now, if the people can't swim here, they'll be glad to swim at the beaches of Cape Cod, the Hamptons, Long Island...” 😳🚒💰

Defunding the police is not the way forward. We should support community outreach programs that allow our people to build respect and rapport with our officers.
