This explanation does not work. Population s grow to exceed their food supply, then shrink due to starvation. Without innovations in agriculture, populations don't grow not because of choice, but because it is logistically impossible to support higher pops.

The overall message of the series is: You must grow up. Take responsibility. Being a child is fun, but it's not what you were meant for.
