@FischerKing64 A brilliant, accomplished friend of mine with a master's got laid off from a university tech job a couple months back. He's applied for hundreds of jobs. Got several interviews. The hiring mgrs love him. Straight, white Christian guy. HR always vetoes.

Many, at the cost of their lives. Nobody's willing to be martyred for Thor--the pagan or the Pop Cult version.
@trellgger @BrianNiemeier Our ancestors knew pagan worship well…. And chose Christianity.

The same tragedy befell anime in the late 90s. 1 guy mixed all the paints for almost every studio. Then he had a massive heart attack & retired. That's how we went from.this👇 to this👇
This reminds me of when my 4th year professor explained how there was a very particular type of glue used in electronics that was better than every other kind, and it was being produced solely by a single man in his basement who was going to retire within the next 10 years.

This post explains why Lisa Simpson now lives in the Uncanny Valley. She's a cultural anachronism: a 90s "Girls & boys are equal, but girls are better" trope frozen as a 40-year-old child. She's a Gen Y changeling.
Happy Easter!. Let us talk about a very strange subject: Generation Y and The Kid Who Reads! Who exactly is this cohort and what exactly do we do with them?.

Exactly. People don't want Christian Media™. They want the kind of media made when Christianity was the default.
People who say there is no good Christian Media are invariably comparing Christian™ lifestyle brand media to pop media in general. Christian™ media is corporate art whose consumption is marketed as a fulfillment of a carefully cultivated identity. It is not designed to be.

Zoomers who missed GG1: "Send emails! host 8-way livestreams! Adopt circus animals!". Shiba: "Nah, bro. Just stop paying people who hate you.".
"Gamergate is back!". Yeah nah, fuck that shit. 10 years ago the industry made it super duper clear who they cared about and it sure as fuck wasn't the people buying and playing their games. I'm not simping for an industry that hates me. Fuck off, go bankrupt, all of you.

@Grummz This is the model all the big tech firms are embracing. Instead of making and selling products their customers like, they're making a cash grab for the fast buck by selling their customers' property.

@Extralongdokkan We know the exact answer to this one. Almost all anime studios sourced their paint from the same supplier throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s. In 1998, the guy who mixed the paints for that company had a massive heart attack & retired. That gave those pushing for digipaint an excuse.

Pretend you're an engineer who's come up with a power source that's 100x more efficient than fossil fuels, is 100% safe, emits pure water as its only byproduct & can fit in the corner of any home. You show the head of Greenpeace your invention. Her problem is how to kill you.

Catholic philosopher Peter Kreeft researched hundreds of hauntings & came up with 4 general categories:.1. Human souls that barely made it into Purgatory asking for prayers.2. Human souls in Heaven offering consolations.3. Angels offering consolations.4. Demons.cont'd . .
@BrianNiemeier Wouldn’t it be more likely, per the Church, that the “ghost” is a demon masquerading as the spirit of the officer?.

This is nonsense. Only 1/3 of Americans supported rebelling against England. History shows that critical mass for a successful revolt is ~10%. Majority opinion does not matter and never has.
A revolution cannot win without the support of the people and many soldiers. Only the lower class can provide that. As long as they are the class that makes up the supporters of the revolution that revolution belongs to them.

Not every fantasy story needs Sandersonian magic-as-technology systemization.
In The Black Company Glen Cook almost never explains how magic works. He goes into a bit of detail in the later books, but even then it’s vague. Magic is a thing. Skill level and ability varies . The narrator doesn’t understand it so you either accept it or get filtered.

Lots of replies saying "These are fantasy creatures that are just called demons.". OK, but notice how nobody says "My world has elephants, but they're aquatic reptiles.". The conceit that demons can be whatever we want rests on the assumption that they don't exist. That's risky.
Yep. Being pure intellect & will, an angel's (or demon's) 1st choice to serve God or not was made with its whole being, and is therefore irrevocable.

That is why redditors have massive CogDis attacks when you point out the horror genre's intrinsically Christian roots.
Faith minded creators and production studios have found limited success with Christian tales, but author @BrianNiemeier explains here why Christians should NEVER set out to create "Christian Fiction.". See if you agree.

Thomas Anderson, Al Bundy & Philip Fry were all portrayed as losers to varying degrees by 90s standards. Even Fry, the biggest goofball among them, could hold down a job & pay rent - something that was taken for granted then but can't be now.

@BrianNiemeier @AsherBrunnert Yeah, um, no. No one forced these people to take out loans. And, in many I stances, the people who took out loans came from families that were wealthy, and could afford to pay the tuition. They just didn't. And many of them got useless degrees from expensive, exclusive schools.
