Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) We stand at the heart of the world from the center of the church. Enjoys Photography, Playmobil and Ancient Coins.
Taxied some Afghan refugees around today. As they nervously piled into my car I hit “play” on an Afghan Spotify playlist. Complete transformation. Music is magic.
Just read a blog post suggesting that using GRACE or the work of Diane Langberg should be avoided because it risks exposing your church to...*checks notes*...Critical Theory. Can we get more dumber?
I certainly didn’t expect this to blow up like it did. Please forgive my ignorance of Indian Cinema and confusing it with Bollywood. I’m glad to have learned that.
I see some churches are now requiring RUF ministers to report on how they voted or intend to vote on these imbecilic overtures. They are threatening withdrawal of their support if they vote against.

Update on
@DPCassidyTKC
from a friend: Cassidy AM Update: not out of the woods. Platelets back down overnight. Remains in ICU. Leg is responding to treatment and will have an MRI today. Pain meds are good but the pain is real! He’s giving God thanks and praise for your prayers.

One of my favorite Jack Handy quips: "If trees screamed, do you think we would cut them down? We probably would if they screamed all the time."
As we behold the slain Christ on the cruel cross on this Good Friday, we must never forget this truth:
Jesus was not the victim of injustice.
Jesus was the predestined substitute for sinners crushed under the wrath of the Father in order to fulfill holy justice.
Isaiah 53:10
Latest update I have on
@DPCassidyTKC
. Just spoke with David C. Fortunately he is in good hands. His platelets went from 250-275 (normal) to 2, and are now up to 3! The Docs don't know what caused this yet, whether snake or spider, but they brought anti-venom up from Miami. 1/2

To be fair, the claims of a big shift due to LBJ and race that is popular on the left is also overly-simplistic. Not supported by good data.
A little boy in church today asked me why God doesn’t make dinosaurs again, and this time make them nice.
I’m going to have to go to the Lord for this one.
One thing I find about the rite of baptism (and especially infant baptism) is how profoundly illiberal it is. In an age where the highest virtue is conceived as the individual’s choice of their own identity, baptism imposes from without an identity that cannot be undone.
Just finished reading the PCA's AIC Report on Abuse. Easily the most important document ever produced by our denomination. My biggest regret in reading this now is not having had it's wisdom during my last 25 years of ministry.

this year. For the past six years I've either been on Overtures or RPR and taking a break just feels like the thing to do. (COVID year didn't count.)
That was far and away the best liturgy for an opening GA ever. A real pastoral absolution, real wine in communion, BCP prayers, and a sermon by

I’m a Calvinist, confessionally Reformed, and have been a Presbyterian pastor for over 23 years. Let me say clearly, this is a foolishly divisive take.
@derekradney
Never understood the outcry. They could have called it the Department of Silly Walks for all I care. We take ourselves far too seriously at times.
@MarkGrote
Friend, I think you should consider taking down this tweet. While you may have intended to express something you feel is important, I'm afraid you've sort of backed yourself into a corner and I would encourage you to reconsider your point. Peace.
No one panic. That brilliant flash of blinding light that you just saw on the horizon was just me stepping outside wearing shorts for the first time this year.
Two questions for your pastor:
1. Do you recognize the existence of psychological problems that require medical intervention?
2. Do you recognize the validity of evidence based psychotherapy?
I'm really looking forward to teaching Greek this fall at Grandview University here in Des Moines. It's been a while since I've taught it and I'm looking forward to cleaning off the rust.
Today a guy stop by the office. He told me that he was a prophet from Nigeria. While he was praying today he had a vision of our church with a gigantic snake surrounding our building, where he grabbed the snake and crushed it while saying "Jesus!" So we got that going for us.
