@theclassicwife From my priest - you remove yourself from a situation which is causing you needless suffering (presumably you've tried to explain this hurts you to them already to no avail), and you honour your parent by praying for them to find peace and therefore be kinder! Hope this helps!

@jasebyjason I have a client who lives in one of the properties there. It's okay on a surface level (although aesthetically I do not like it at all) but everything is falling apart. The plumbing, the elevators, the fitted kitchens. It's an expensive, confusing, shoddy place.

@EllyArrow @doodles_zen realistically if someone (especially) desires choking and hitting a woman, or is even comfortable doing it, they do not respect women in any way. no 'normal' person is aroused by inflicting violence on someone else, even if the recipient enjoys it.

@Dok845 He has a PhD in communication but I feel like a much more effective form of communication would be to just say 'I don't feel like giving advice' or just like... not responding if he didn't want to? Cause this HR-ass message is just a fancy way to say 'I don't want to reply'.

@rusticfem Not commenting on the ethics of IVF or even on the ethics of preferring a female child, but a parent wanting a 'close friendship' with their future child is a recipe for disaster. That's not what the child-parent relationship is for. You cannot literally 'make' your friends.

@loveologian the self-reply being like 'its not abuse if there's consent' is the most brain-rotten thing ever - people consent to being harmed all the time, that doesn't make harming them right... if you want to be punched in the face, you are unwell, and the person who does it to you is too.

@RegularSanStan @EllyArrow @doodles_zen I don't blame the victim hence 'even if the recipient enjoys it'. And it's not 'wrong' to think that wanting to inflict violence on others is psychologically abnormal and dangerous. Show me the evidence (outside of your fucked up world-view) that BDSM is safe and respectful.

cheating is only not abusive if it happens in a non-serious relationship. if someone you live with, have children with, share a bank account with, violates you in that way, it's absolutely abuse. we don't all live like 15 year olds, some of us have bound our lives to our partner.

@SlowpokeCon @HaruhiAisaka I have spoken to many priests about it, it's okay to wear a rosary as a necklace, but unusual. It's not disrespectful unless you intend it to be. @TheEsteemedFox A book, story, or poem by Nabokov leaves you feeling empty and unsettled, questioning how it seemed so good but was about something strange or evil. Because he was a good writer, he did this in a sensitive way. It's not subject to morality, because he is not trying to be honest.

@poetickate the case is often that parents need their kids to be inherently 'unwell' in some unfixable way which makes them unaccountable for their own mistakes. good on you for trying to reason with her, but a mother who does not respect her child does not deserve a relationship.
