@boyxfrontxdoor And it's doubtful white men needed any other men to create an environment of fear for women, because their own culture and their own men accomplished that already. Interestingly, the majority of interracial marriages (that came much later) were between white women and Black men.

In Solnit's defense, the essay is striking—on par with Brown Miller's Against Our Will. But I am angry that race was mentioned like this: "it was popular ... to pretend murderers and rapists were marginal men." Was it pretend when it happened to Connie Sublette?

And many of those women are starting to realize the government is swiftly moving to consolidate power against them in unprecedented ways; they're looking for people willing to challenge the dominant narrative. That's what the Left should be, what it needs to be.

@winnielark @astrofemina I listened to the podcast when it came out and was put off when they argued Trump isn't THAT bad, unlike the devil incarnate Clinton. Didn't make sense from a Marxist or a radfem perspective, seemed like a repeat of 2016 election misogyny. I've never understood the popularity.

@radicallysandra The most concerning part is if he's willing to listen to and appeal to the most extreme anti-abortionists, who else will he tolerate? Extremists against divorce and women's suffrage?
