@KenKovacs @Last_DayWithYou @guelphgirlchris Well, I hope he can dine out on this, I don’t see him getting access to anyone of note for the next four years.

@LeahRebeccaUK @GerryAndersonTV To be fair, the acting on Space 1999 was slightly more wooden - but the Eagle Landers were cool.

@seanbwparker @EmpowerInnocent Enormous latitude on prosecution - folks allowed to mark their own homework - much greater burden on the accused. Failures of disclosure - you’re the only one/never happens to others - anonymity and hidden evidence.

@robinthemint Check out the Sally Clark case - she was jailed for killing her own babies. That case had a media-loving expert witness and jury given misleading statistics. Sally died of alcoholic poisoning a couple of years after being exonerated and released.

@ProudlerRichard @TheEconomist Among the rich, fat men and thin wonen, among the poor, thin men and fat women. Stress, smoking and drink have a large part to play - as do long hours and a lot of travel.

@HumansNoContext Sir Alec Guinness couldn’t play any part convincingly until he had captured ‘the walk’.

@KarmanKekana @robkhenderson That’s the 19th Century approach that John Mearsheimer describes the Russian and Chinese approach to war.

@MrSugden2 Regular churchgoing hit a terminal decline, but Eric and Ernie and Top of the Pops gave us secular rituals followed by tens of millions. Is there anything that binds 40% of the population in 2025?

@rorysutherland It has become commonplace to see individuals on X with many thousands of followers being bumped from flights by major carriers. Their word of mouth complaints must cancel out whole million-dollar campaigns. Green ‘non-flier’ miles for treats at home would suit many.

@Barristerblog No career risk supporting the prosecution: Guilty verdict = defendant removed from job, no further ‘crime’. For a defence witness: Guilty verdict = poor judgement. Innocent verdict = you are on the hook for the defendant’s entire future career. Hence mainly ‘emeritus’ witnesses.

@C72Al @meIisactu The lessons that @elonmusk learns from DOGE will be sold to governments around the globe in the future. He’ll make a lot of money but whether or not parties commit to using the service may become an electoral game-changer.

@t848m0 @meIisactu The UK electorate need an education in public spending - and the outcomes of that spending. Ironically, the inexperience of the Labour cabinet is creating unintended transparency: Aid for Gaza + £17m, AMSP - £17m. National Insurance Fund could be our sovereign wealth fund.

@jeffbarrow81 @Overlordmainst1 @damian17236445 It’s interesting how squeamish we are about protecting ‘good’ people while condemning someone to a lifetime of incarceration.

@paulg A watch given as a 21st birthday present may give sixty years of joy. A bottle of wine might last two hours, so viewed as an hourly rate is much more expensive.
