after confessing, the guy tries to kill himself, and they put him in a psych ward. the cops find out his dad's alive shortly after, but they let the guy go on believing his dads dead, his dogs dead, and hes going to prison, for his 72 hours of confinement.

@cheascake theyre smaller so less preheating, and good ones are designed so that the shape of the oven and the blower work together to get really good airflow, which can get better results than your typical full-size convection oven for things where you want some browning/crispiness.

@realtimeai the police department did later put out a statement where they downplay their wrongdoing and emphasize that no court found they committed a crime (which i infer is because they settled with their victim so he wouldnt pursue it in the courts).

I spent ages 8–18 constantly staying prepared for the chance that I’d be caught doing something other than what I was supposed to be doing, and subjected to some punishment or other as a result. The resultant psychological patterns have not proven to be good for me.

locksmiths are criminally incompetent. 99% of household locks can be decoded, and a new key fashioned, in under 15 minutes using less than $1000 of equipment. if you don't need a new key, they can be opened in seconds with $10 of equipment. your locksmith will drill it.

(this isnt quite true, bc weve still only observed a single instance of a prokaryote subsuming another prokaryote. in both this instance and w chloroplasts, the host cell already had mitochondria, and presumably a lot of the adaptations for that could be repurposed).
