They also tend to look very VERY uncanny because the design of a cartoon character aren't meant to be translated into live action. Which is why characters designs in animation tend to be exaggerated to fit the style of the world/setting by the animators.

Oh no the comic is god awful. Stereotypes the fuck out of the characters that are represented as gay and are also in a poly relationship, which is also poorly handled.
The writing uses dialogue as if the characters are speaking in text messages to each other.—

Basically, anyone who says the Trails series is bad because it has characters pushing themselves from death, and trauma.
The series is about finding new friends and family as well as forging your own path. There is a reason why the series in Japanese is called Kiseki.
We failed as a society when we've let people somehow dictate that being genuinely kind and empathetic is corny and cringe while being as mean spirited and bigoted as possible is profitable and cool

This is the feeling I get when reading a really good fantasy book or manga or anime.
You get attached to these characters and the world they inhabit that it makes you emotional to what happens throughout their journey.

It's funny that the show's they loved as kids were mostly commercial driven shows more than modern animated shows. The whole shift of story-driven cartoons didn't start to shift till Hannah Barbera created the Dark Water show, which didn't last long, but gained a cult following.
