On a Zoom call with other LTC facilities in my network. One facility just said “vaccinated individuals will now receive a gold star to wear to show their status”. This has reached a frightening level of ignorance and abuse. 🤦🏼♀️

L&D nurse for 8 years. Not one vaginal delivery was I ever in where anyone was masked. Not even the surgical tech running the sterile delivery table! These were worn only in the OR and the second the incision was closed we all snapped the ties off our masks and breathed!

A lot of the elderly didn’t want it either but we withheld family visits, masked, and forced isolation on those who did not. Our last round of boosters here in our LTC hospitalized 2 residents. All 4 of our recent “positives” had exactly zero symptoms. Enough already!

We are fast approaching crisis staffing in healthcare and long term care due to these ridiculous mandates. People are leaving for jobs with no mask, no testing, and no vax. I committed to 2 years at my LTC facility or I would already be gone. This has to end for everyone NOW!

Interesting. Currently taking the CDC's own training to become infection prevention certified. Apparently masking for asymptomatic people is NOT a source control measure for respiratory viruses, so I got that question wrong.

We "endangered" my daughter with club volleyball all summer. Zero "cases" and no mask requirements. 6 full courts going and lots of spectators. I think we're fine.
How about we get back to letting parents decide what's best for their children.

I’ve told my asthmatic daughter through all of this that no matter the reason, if I give one at all, it will be “cramps”. No bs quarantine, no useless testing, and no missed school functions. I will decide when my kids are too sick to participate, just like always.

Please don't do this to your loved ones. Working in LTC I can tell you that when they are nearing end of life all they want is their family with them. They know they are dying & are not afraid of what you "might" be bringing them.
They just want you there.
This is heartbreaking.

I was ill in January as my 81 year old sister entered her final illness. Even though I knew I’d likely never see her again, I wasn’t about to visit and hasten her demise. Where there’s life, there’s hope. Her last words to me the day she passed were “It’s ok. I’m ok.”

Just had a call w/ IDPH. She shared a personal story of people needing to quarantine after a 6 foot exposure to someone positive. All were masked. I asked: if masks work so well then why the quarantine? Her response "I know, it really doesn't make any sense".
So it's a NO for me.

My husband asked his PCP yesterday for his medical opinion on getting the vax. PCP asked if he worked for the State of IL. No he doesn’t. His PCP told him that the State has been sending their employees to dr offices posing as pts to find out what drs are advising their own pts!

This makes even less sense if the incubation period from exposure is truly up to 14 days. Who cares how you tested 3 days ago?!

These antigen tests were just now included after months of use in LTC and then dumped into last Friday's numbers. Maybe you should mention that.

This is exactly what happened in our LTC. Despite all of our efforts, and we tried everything, it whipped through here affecting a large portion of our staff and residents. Then...it was over. Now we only have rare staff +. A virus doing what it does.

What had been reserved for TB patients in a negative pressure isolation room, will now be standard...for the flu.

For those you who believe that all LTC are forcing isolation on their residents, here is an update from Friday's IDPH webinar. IDPH has now decided that they will not even allow family to visit through a window. This is cruel and wrong. These are our decision makers.

A facility in our network had 9 staff test + without symptoms. They retested all and 8 came back negative. We’ve been told repeatedly by IDPH that false positives are impossible. All 9 were reported so will stand as positives against that facility and FOR the state’s numbers.

My children have never had to quarantine. As the Parent, I decided what they would do or not do. I flat out refuse to allow anyone to try and direct how I manage my children in my own home.

All of the hospitalized pts I review for placement are coded as C presumptive until tested. That flag remains for days before it’s removed if ever. I assume these are counted as CLI? Please explain how they’re included in your daily tallies & if they are ever removed once cleared
