The difference is the men are still competent and heroic in these films, instead of being ridiculed and made fun of.
There is no "men are the best" message.
There is no "women are best message."
Its a group of people doing cool things in service of the story.

Finn was overwhelmingly the more interesting character and Disney lessened his impact on the story to appease the Chinese market.
I will never forgive Rian Johnson for the damage he did to Star Wars, nor for ruining Finn's character.

Andor's greatest sin is being slow.
Beyond that, the script is amazing and picks up episode over episode. Each is better than the last. The characters are flawed, but likeable, and the acting is superb.
Its amazing this show came out of Disney Star Wars

Yeah, Korra beat Amon, Tarlok, Zaheer, and Kuvira, but it never felt like she grew as a character. The Korra you see in S1 is the same Korra we see in S3. She experiences some character growth in S4, but its not on

To be fair, the book is somewhat similar.
The characters are pretty flat and only serve to deliver exposition. The concepts discussed are pretty amazing.
However, I also read the book in translated English instead of Mandarin, so some of the authorial intent may have been lost.

I once paid $80 for a book that was out of print. It was a series I read in my childhood and I wanted it for my kids. It was the last of 8 in a series, and one of those dime a dozen middle-grade novels that were published during the late 90's, early 2000's.
It was worth it.

Korra wasn't a great character. She accomplishes great feats, but always returns back to the same person she was the previous season, which is an entitled brat.
Giving her bending back at the end of S1 was a huge mistake, as was having a different villain
