This is *a lot* of infantry bunched up behind a single tank.
When there is so much rubble to exploit for cover, use it. Tanks attract fire and ricochets are a very real danger. Conga lines of infantry are incredibly vulnerable.

. If you're combined arms exercise is "peer warfighting" but devolves into a CQB stack & room clearing then you have to ask "why?".
Through wall effects are incredibly important to consider, even if we can't represent them.

. 30mm has excellent penetrative effect through wall, delivers explosive effect & frag internally, & allows rapid engagement of multiple positions.
A friend shared this video with me today, the 92nd brigade at work, pounding russian positions in Hlyboke. the spot where it drives is very interesting, the devastating effects of it's 30mm cannon.
This assault gave our defenders a small but important tactical gain.

Interesting means of firing 60mm mortars from within buildings. It used to taught to fire through a hole in the roof to remain hidden, but this is taking it even further.
It heavily restricts firing arc and direction, but it also demonstrates the challenges facing the IDF.

Dismounted firepower shouldn't be an afterthought. It reduces reliance on joint fires (with resulting collateral damage & complex C2), improves tempo & isn't that hard.
We have/getting the systems to leverage (GL/CG), but we need to invest in the flexible munitions.
Ahead of the Loitering Munitions are the Sections equipped with an increased number of adaptable 40mm M320 and optionally accompanied by the Platoon-level Carl Gustaf with anti-structure, HEAT and vicious airbursting rounds.

Loitering munitions fascinate with kill-cam footage, but what's delivering more effect is non-exploding ISTAR UAS directing rockets/arty/missiles.
LMs are just one-time use, less capable ISTAR UAS with one small 💥
If loitering weapons are the new must-have battlefield system, Brimstone 3b is the Hypersonic Weapon equivalent of loitering weapons.

Situational awareness in complex terrain is hard. This video shows the benefit of UAS operators assisting junior leaders in their close fight. Routes, cover, enemy locs & QRFs, etc.
This the "Systems Operator" role being trialled by the 🇬🇧 Army's ETG ⬇️
A recent video of a Russian drone team guiding an assault shows what this looks like. The drone operator alerts the men on the ground to enemy firing positions, available cover, and an approaching vehicle. He even micromanages their entry into a building.

Why strong points in high-intensity

may not be a good return on investment of time & resources.
Modern explosive weapons are much more accurate & effective than they used to be, making such locations vulnerable to targeting & destruction.

CASEVAC from a multi-storey building. Infantry carts (

) used to move casualty in narrow spaces, then transferred to UGV for transfer up the med chain. Great to see low tech & high tech being blended together.

Watched a Recce element use UAS to locate and trigger a complex ambush (employing Engineer assets). Lot of discussion about exposure times and Red reactions. Good to see lessons from conflicts being applied to UAS operations.

2. The need for an empty car park (or other open space) which are limited in most urban areas.
It is unusual to find an entirely empty, uncluttered space & an enemy can identify these too, covering them with fire or denying their use with obstacles. 2/3

MILAN ATGMs being used for

anti-structure role. Fired from inside a high rise building.
Though not optimized for this role, the short distance likely adds the remaining fuel to the blast effect (& 3x missiles too).
The MILAN team of the Kalinouski Regt. In actin recently engaging a Russian OP.
They tell me they're running low on missiles and their Mira NV sight is down at the moment but they're still in action. They're commander tells me he wants TOW.

This looks very interesting. Beyond line of sight, precision strike is a much needed capability for infantry in
#urbanwarfare
. The hover capability (unlike Switchblade) would certainly give it more manoeuvrability in complex terrain and the ability to deliver effect where needed.

Also, note the reports that the heaviest fighting is taking place in the centre and industrial zones. These are the most complex UTZs and offer most defensible buildings. I don't know any urban training sites that replicates these UTZs well. We need more TEWTs and wargaming.

Snipers are incredible assets in
#urbanwarfare
. This looks like some incredible training. I would recommend that is part of standard sniper training, though, not just for SOF.
