The penny-wise pound-foolish Apache/JAGM saga continues.
The UK is now buying 3,000 JAGM missiles for $957.4M.
That equates to $319,000 per missile for a system already integrated onto our AH-64E's, that the UK has already trained on, which the UK has already paid for and

Unless the UK commits to new-build Challenger 3 hulls, the future does not look bright for British Army MBT numbers or further MBT design.
The realistic alternatives are:

The UK modular CAMM air-defence missile based on ASRAAM is a triumph.
One of the few weapon systems adopted Cross-Service, arguably leading to its export success and growth into CAMM-ER and the Anglo-Polish FCM.
How long until a Meteor-based module "Hyper-CAMM" is developed?
Guided/specialist munitions reduce the impact of differences between howitzers. If there is to be significant artillery investment, it should be here to drive down costs far below guided missile prices, develop multi-purpose rounds, increase range and reduce time to target.

British service personnel should have greater access to shooting ranges and be encouraged in their use both scheduled and as an option for their spare time.
Strict firearms laws restrict civilian practice, but this should not limit our military who are dependent on these skills.

Devonshire Dock Hall is vast. Currently the UK builds 3 SSN or SSBN in there at a time. Strictly speaking, 6 Astute sized vessels *could* be built in the 260m long hall although 4 might be easier to arrange. Build schedule is artificially slow at present.

Per Kongsberg Australia, the NSM Coastal Defence system uses the same common Naval Strike Missile as seen aboard ships, operated with the same architecture as the NASAMS air defence system. Whether mounted to a Jelcz or Bushmaster (Strikemaster) chassis or dismountable pallet.
