I want to clarify a key point: when one makes a bad stock buy, the money goes to other traders. When one buys #btc and #bitcoin falls, the money is likely to end up in the hands of criminals, especially Tether. The consequences of mistakes is one reason I don't trade #btc .

@HououinTyouma @Duderichy This is a way to execute layoffs without having to deal with their unemployment insurance premiums being hiked. You can see that in how the stock price jumped after the announcement. The topic with the #1 correlation with positive stock performance, every time, is layoffs.

@TaraViswanathan But why are they doing this? I don't understand what the purpose is of learning to write the old way anymore, just like people used calculators since the 80s. Why not teach students how to use GPT-4, and how to edit text generated by it to form a cohesive answer?

To demonstrate the scale of the fraud at DCG: Claims against Genesis are currently selling for 23%, or 15% with the buyer paying legal bills for clawback defense. That's lower than the 27.6% that I sold my Celsius claim for, so that says something about Barry Silbert.

Victims were not stupid for taking "risks" at @BlockFi and @GenesisTrading . The companies made false or misleading statements. I spent 150 hours of research. If what @GenesisTrading and @BlockFi had told me was true, those companies would still be operating today.

I don't trade on intuitions. But for what it's worth: -We'll either stop at $19,500 or $16,500 now. - @DCGco could go bankrupt in 3 months, hitting $13,000 - @binance will fail after that, hitting $10,000 - @Tether_to will fail last, reversing the cycle at $5,000 to $8,000

Silicon Valley Bank is worse than Silvergate Bank, since Silvergate Bank didn't declare bankruptcy. We know that USDC is not backed 1:1 anymore by cash and bonds. We don't know what other stablecoins are affected. Do you trust @Tether_to to be unaffected?

@UAPJames @vermontgmg The mainstream is a few steps behind. By next year at this time, it will likely be publicly understood that intelligent life is here, but people who follow the topic will then understand what these government programs know or don't know while the public is in the dark.

@Empty_America @datepsych I said this myself a few months ago. I scored a 150 (but it was many years ago and who knows how valid it is now.) But I still lost 90% of my net worth to scams. IQ tests measure shapes and math. They don't measure dealing with people, and that requires different skills.

If I mislead an employee of a Pennsylvania Wal-Mart into giving me a $1,000 TV he thinks I paid for, the third degree felony carries a fine 15 times the TV's value. @ZacPrince misled me into giving @BlockFi $3 million, and as far as I'm aware, he has paid a fine of zero dollars.

@Ross__Hendricks The issue with posts like this is that most people don't have money to invest during downturns - because they already invested their money. The market only goes down about 10% of the time, and crashes are sudden, so it's difficult to have money available in times like these.

@robinhanson However, the overhead for an office worker is higher than 18%. Commercial real estate and fitting out an office is expensive. Plus, it's easier to find workers to work from home, so they may accept lower pay. My guess is that 18% is not enough loss to offset these other costs.

@AlexOttaBTC The " #btc on exchange" metric is extremely poor. You're going to get slaughtered if you trade on that. If I still had 200 bitcoins, I could move them to an exchange in 30 minutes and get rid of them, and so could anyone else, and that's exactly what happens during panics.

@TheZvi But your assessment that things don't make sense is correct. This is especially true in the government. When a police or military action is taken and it doesn't make sense, that almost always means there is a classified document that will come out in the future.

USDC held dollars at Silvergate, Signature, and Silicon Valley Banks - the worst possible choices. The FDIC said that balances over $250,000 at Silicon Valley will receive claims against the sale of the bank's assets. USDC is now an unsecured creditor of Silicon Valley Bank.

Key thoughts on the @GenesisTrading deal (multiple parts): 1.) @DCGco admitted in court that it does owe Genesis by the terms of the promissory note reported in the media. Therefore, unless they prove they had $1.1b in additional current assets, the balance sheets were false.

When @ZacPrince is old and looks back on his life, I wonder if he will understand that the world would have turned out better if had he not been born and #BlockFi had never existed. It's difficult for me to comprehend having to live with that knowledge.

@coinbase placed a "hold" on @ProHashing 's account, and now hundreds of people are unable to receive fairly mined coins. Yet, neither the company nor I have ever been subject to a "hold" at "unregulated" exchanges like @southxchange .

@Ragnarok12388 That's because $XMR is fairly valued at what the base rate is for its sole use case. It's hard to speculate on because so many exchanges don't support it. If #bitcoin were fairly valued like this, its value would be well below $10,000.

When people are stating that they want to "fight back" against the @SECGov , what are they fighting for, exactly? To allow exchanges to cook the books and commit fraud? If all exchanges leave, that shows that #btc was based 100% on fraud.

@c4dh3 @BlockFi @GenesisTrading They don't need to win all of the trials, just some of them. Some of them are on very shaky grounds anyway, like the Robinhood shares, and have low odds of success.

For the first time, the @manifoldmarkets prediction market now shows that it is more likely than not that the US is in possession of non-human craft or unbelievably advanced weaponry. The non-human odds now exceed @robinhanson 's 20% interview estimate.

Likewise, @BlockFi 's unsecured creditors committee should push for Chapter 7. The crypto lending industry is dead. The company is worth zero. It's not just about the $11m in employee bonuses. Liquidate the firm, lay everyone off, and wait for the FTX bankruptcy to pay out.

You know that the @GenesisTrading deal is bad when @ramahluwalia criticizes it. When will people realize that the only out for the creditors now is to force @DCGco into bankruptcy? I'm glad I'm not holding a claim caught up in this mess.

I'd be curious to find out from someone like @ramahluwalia what he thinks about what happened with @OpenAI and @sama last night. In corporate history, Ram, has there ever been a corporation that has self-destructed in a way like this - not telling your partners and then firing

@ramahluwalia In the Madoff scam, there were indictments of 17 frontline employees. @SBF_FTX 's assertion that only 4 were involved is ludicrous. There will surely be far more than 17 indictments of frontline employees at @CelsiusNetwork , @GenesisTrading , @BlockFi , and @FTX_Official .

@JohnReedStark @JohnReedStark , have you read ? I still find it unbelievable that the @FBI is going to allow the statute of limitations to expire on this. The evidence is overwhelming. There's a reason why cryptocurrency is in the state it's in - nobody goes to jail.
