And it’ll be out of date again by 9 pm tonight....

Come on - he didn’t know we were an island until he saw Dover.
Don’t tell him he’s just proved that 8 years of Tory Government has cut our wages and made us all poorer.

I think he forgot to mention that a number of senior staff were sex pests accused of assaults or inappropriate behaviour.
The head tried to cover it up, got found out which is why he was demoted - but still awaiting his disciplinary. But he thinks he should be Head again…
@MarinaPurkiss
Sadly most people in Hitler’s Germany just went along with it - like my family.
That’s all it takes. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” - true whether attributed to Edmund Burke or John Stuart Mill
@BBCWorld
Wow, I wonder what could be causing all these explosives to just go off when civilians are nearby? 🤷♂️
As an old hack I’d advise the passive voice makes really dull reading which is why most journalists use the active.
Like ‘Israel kills record number of civilians bombing Gaza’
@JohnJCrace
I’m loving having an energy bill bigger than my mortgage and seeing half of my wages disappear to fatten the coffers of fossil fuel companies wrecking the planet and making unprecedented profits.
Was that positive enough?
@PatrickBHenry
@MarinaHyde
Glad he got sacked over something serious - not a trivial matter like 60,000 dead and trashing the country and our economy then.
@Stuzipants
The same Conservative party that imposed photo ID on the rest of us to prevent voter fraud and refuse to allow trades unions to ballot their members online?
One law for us, no rules for them? Double standards? Surely not!
@JerryTaylorAyr
But it’s ordinary workers asking for a pay rise to help meet some of these costs that are to blame…not British Gas and other energy companies making obscene profits.
@MichaelRosenYes
Your touching tribute to her on Radio 4 broke this sad news to me.
Took me back 30 years, reading one of our bedtime story favourites to my daughter - Peace at Last. As a new parent I could read the part of poor sleep deprived Mr Bear with real empathy.
@AuthorMonika
Polish army, French fireman, Sikh charities and the German ambassador all visiting the stranded lorry drivers.
Not a single UK politician bothers to visit those who help this country’s imports and exports.
Funny how they turn up for a rumour of an asylum seeker in a dinghy.

Everyone slating the Russians for arresting anti war protestors who face 10 years in jail should remember exactly the same could happen here.

Poor kids just need their mum or dad to hug them and say everything is OK and they’ll be safe.
But it breaks my heart to know that they may not have parents. And no one can say it is OK and they’re safe because they’re in constant danger as a child dies every 8 minutes in Gaza.
@MrJohnNicolson
@GaryLineker
I didn’t join a political party for 35 years when I worked first as a journalist and then in local government communications.
I thought it inappropriate with the needs of the job to remain impartial. I was pretty low down the pecking order - at this level there’s no question.
@BBCPolitics
You realise you should make format of your programmes fit with our democratic process, not the other way round, right?
So why no

We have revived decades old practices where dockers and building workers would turn up every morning and if their face didn’t fit with the supervisor, they were a union ‘troublemaker’ or just unlucky then they got no work.
I truly thought these bad old days had gone - sadly not.
@DavidPNoble63
I’m on holiday in Powys and will be trapped by these dastardly laws! Had I known I would never have visited Wales as it will as minutes to my journeys.
Can’t wait to get back home, where I live on a street where I am free to do…..20 mph, err
@MikeStuchbery_
That was a pretty stomach churning thread Mike, which I found difficult to read and impossible to ‘like’ many posts.
You have to ask yourself - how did we even get to the stage where you need to explain this?
@MichaelRosenYes
My daughter’s boyfriend recently lost his grandad to Covid - when they went to the hospital to see him one last time they asked for the Covid ward.
“Which one? We have seven.” Was the reply.
Don’t even get me started on the idiocy of the deniers.

By contrast saw stories about Sikh charities at the border crossings upholding their tradition of a langar, or community kitchen, giving free food to all.
They don’t preach or convert - just take the view that all humans are the same family so you help those in need.

Sadly a story repeated in high streets across the country. Small traders and pubs who just can’t bear the strain of inflation and energy profiteering.
But don’t worry British Gas profits increased 10 x to £751 million while more than 6.5 million households are in fuel poverty.
@estherk_k
Imagine being arrogant enough to go to someone else’s country to tell them they should change their Apartheid culture.
Thankfully many did speak out and the repressive, racist South African regime was changed.
Now imagine if they hadn’t.

I wish the media would show as much interest as people on the breadline who can’t get bank accounts or credit and end up using payday lenders and loan sharks.
That’s denying a basic service - Farage is a business based on hatemongering, why should a bank be forced to supply him?

Actually that’s two bits of bad news
- Pound is collapsing faster than other currencies
- New report on inequality shows the average Pole and Slovenian will be better off than the average Brit. Basically because the rich are hoarding all our cash and we have more in poverty.
@sschweb1
Britain’s part in this as a colonial power is often conveniently forgotten or overlooked.
Just look at the mess we caused worldwide - partition in India which killed at least a million and is still not resolved today along with Iraq, Cyprus and Ireland.
@gorhunter
Your Queen, Elizabeth von Saxe-Coburg-Gotha? Who was married to Philip Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg of the Greek royal family?
Now what was that about people with funny foreign names going home? I missed it.

sums it up superbly - working class people always pay for a crisis they didn’t create, sick of being asked to work harder and faster for less.

My entire military experience runs to watching Saving Private Ryan, but if you need suppressive fire to keep enemy heads down that thing called common sense tells you maybe don’t do it standing up in full view looking the other way while smoking a fag?
Just a wild guess tho. 🤷♂️

This thread took a while to sink in what it was even about. When I realised, it felt like this was some time warp from the 1950s. Then I had to check if this was about a reprisive regime like Saudi Arabia.
What kind of civilised, modern society controls women’s bodies this way?
@PickardJE
Not as sad as those who have to live through this pantomime disaster.
They’re just sad because they’ll lose their job - some of us will lose jobs, houses, pensions, benefits, services, savings, the lot!

Hard working people rely on a living wage, decent conditions & a pension that doesn’t mean poverty in old age.
Backing bad, bullying bosses ensures that striking is the only way to achieve those.
Ministers withdrawing their labour from Johnson gave you a crack at the top job!
@implausibleblog
Tice - We want people who believe in British values like decency and fair play.
Twitter - What, like giving refuge to people whose home countries have been torn apart by civil war and slaughter such as Syria or Somalia?
Tice - Not that sort of decency and fair play!!

Amazing Chris, how do you know exactly what 17 million people wanted in a yes no ballot, when two years on after countless debate 17 members of the same party, in the same Government, can’t even agree without resigning or threatening to?

Seems the free market in energy is neither ‘free’ nor a ‘market’.
So privatisation was just an illusory con trick - who would have guessed!

Meanwhile our hard earned taxes are used against us to silence critics and keep us in the dark.

Absolutely Sir Michael - thoroughly decent!
Look at the sterling job he’s doing raising £12,000 donations for the party we both love.

UN says it’s impossible and will be a devastating humanitarian calamity - the world watches and says what?

But it didn’t call for the death of Jews, did it? It said from the river to the sea.
Same phrase used by Netanyahu and the Israeli Ambassador - unless they are calling for the death of all Palestinians?
