Ever think about how 22 years post-9/11 we still can’t bring 4 ounces of sunscreen and a nail clipper onto a plane, and yet 3 years into an ongoing pandemic we’re able to walk around a cancer treatment center maskless? I sure do.
I don’t demand a perfect world I just want a world that can install hepa filters in schools and hospitals with the same expediency that we installed enhanced security screening facilities in every international airport in the world
I've had chickenpox and mono.
The viruses that cause these illnesses linger in your body forever.
Keeping COVID from busting those two out of jail is reason enough to keep masking — even if there WEREN'T a couple dozen other reasons to do so anyways.
I had a dream where I was in a store that had a detector that would flash red and make a siren noise when it detected the COVID virus in the air and it kept going off and nobody was paying any attention to it, which is totally what would happen if that device were real

I had a similar call once that seemed legit at first until they asked me to verify my “Visa card number starting with 4” and something in the back of my brain tingled because EVERY Visa card starts with a 4.

If you want to claim to have our backs first you gotta stop throwing money at the people who would beat us for exercising our constitutional rights.

Also “If you don’t like it, leave” is generally spouted by people who hate open borders the most.
It’s almost like their ideology has no consistency other than being horrible human beings

There are two kinda of people in this world.
“That thing I went through sucked, nobody should have to go through that” and “That thing I went through sucked, and nobody should be able to get out of it,” and I’m out of patience for the latter.
I know a ton of you have the chief twat muted, and I know this isn't exactly a binding referendum, but you know what? It can't possibly *hurt* to vote yes on this.
@chronicallybeee
Ironically… like… vaccines ARE a thing that makes your immune system better at fighting off pathogens. Like… that’s what they’re designed to do. They only work AT ALL because your immune system interacts with them.
And yet, the spreaders won’t give up their catch phrases.
@chronicallybeee
Because every time they see one of us they are forced to confront the possibility that they’ve been wrong this whole time and through their inaction have caused millions of preventable deaths, and they have to project that self-lothing outwards in order to prevent personal growth
I'm extremely frustrated that I seem to be one of the only (cisgender) journalists asking for basic evidence on this issue.
Bad-faith journalists have been "asking questions" since 2018 and have turned up nothing. It's time for the rest of the media to call this what it is.
@WBJenna
Honestly though? I went into this movie knowing nothing about it at all and I’m glad to have experienced it that way. Normally I don’t care about spoilers that much, but for this one, vague synopsis gets a thumbs up from me

Feeling like you don't have permission to be sad because there are wondrous things in the world is not a route to happiness.

I don’t think they were suggesting the LAND drank lettuce and cucumbers, I think they were suggesting that the PEOPLE ate them to stay hydrated, because actual clean water was rare in those days

Those of us still wearing masks get branded as “hold-outs” but in reality I believe we’ll be considered “early adopters.”
Unfiltered air and going unmasked around strangers will one day be considered as gross as untreated water

But... like... you're literally just describing racism right now in your tweet that you started out with "It is not racism."
I am not arguing that Ukrainians should not be given refugee status as quickly as possible. But the fact that Syrians *weren't*? Literally racist.

Yeah this is why we needed federal guidelines from the beginning, because people in my friend circles have WILDLY different ideas of what constitutes "really careful."
@aTiredOwl
“12% of people wear masks in public” is not the same statement as “12% of people in any given public space will be wearing masks,” because many of us still wearing masks are also reducing/shortening trips, using curbside, shopping at off-peak hours, favoring outdoor venues, etc.

Bruh.
1. We’re talking about them finishing a WHOLE YEAR of something
2. How on earth is associating accomplishment with reward even a BAD thing? Oh no! These children might be motivated to... ACCOMPLISH things!!

I think they know the only reason many places haven’t brought back mandates is because they don’t want to deal with the small slice of the population that would get belligerent about it.
The anti-maskers are basically the drunk racist NRA-member uncle at family Christmas.
@denise_dewald
Does the expedition of Ukrainian refugee status prove that we have the capacity to expedite refugee status? Yes. The fact that we *aren't* for people from Latin America? If we ever want to move forward to a better world we need to recognize that as racist, and address it.

Hell, a lot of women with XY chromosomes wind up presenting as female because they have androgen insensitivity and wind up having LESS of the effects of testosterone than your typical XX woman would, because their body just kinda ignores testosterone's chemical signals.

Why is “being a burden on the healthcare system” only ever an accusation leveled at fat and disabled people and not at the people refusing to wear masks, the people refusing to create safe working conditions, and the people refusing to ensure everyone is housed?
@broadwaybabyto
Vaccine passports never happened though. They screamed about it so much that they never came to pass. And in a lot of places the mask mandates barely lasted a month. Because they screamed about it. I hate the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers so much.
WTF?

A lot of people mock it, but YouTube Premium. That whole site is so much more tolerable without the ads, especially since 90% of videos have baked-in sponsor ads now.

The funniest part is that it’s all of the worst people who are botcotting the game and thus advertising that it might be an actually healthy multiplayer environment due to their absence
@wrath_776
Exactly. If they truly believed that COVID was over, they’d see someone else wearing a mask and just go on with their day.
The fact that they need to challenge people over it stems from the fact that they know they should be masking too and are upset at the reminder.

News flash: you’re not a solo developer, and your “patient spouse” probably deserves a producer credit.

You know how gen x and millennials resent boomers for how much more college and housing costs now thanks to the politics of the 1980’s?
It’s gonna be like that, but tenfold.

I mean… if we stay the current course, then within about 5 or 10 years, all the minimizers will have been so ravaged by COVID (and the other pathogens their weakened immune systems couldn’t fight off) that they won’t be able to leave the house and spread their germs anymore.

He doesn’t even have the courage to tell the person filming that HE wants to end the conversation. He has to lean on “Victoria” for “wanting to leave.”

And the number of people in the comments asking “where are the parents?” as if said parents aren’t likely working multiple jobs or, perpetually on-call and answering work e-mails during time that earlier generations would have been able to help their kids with a book report.
To all my cis followers who would like to call yourselves allies: one of the easiest ways you can earnestly help us is to amplify OUR stories.

I swear, when I’m out on walks or in the park and stuff I see fewer people than ever bothering to cover their coughs and sneezes AT ALL. Like by 2019 we had retrained almost everyone to cough into their elbow instead of their hand and now we’re back to 19th century norms.
Getting a vaccine is like having an air bag in your car.
It might make the difference between "seriously injured" and "dead." But it doesn't mean you can unbuckle your seatbelt, and you still need to drive safely.
And unlike your air bag, you need to re-up it regularly.
Really depressed that people truly believe vaccination is "doing their part" to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
And frankly I blame public health messaging for not making it abundantly clear to people that the vaccines don't prevent transmission or infection and wear off quick.
