Big news to share: this month I am stepping out and starting my own E &P. This has been a major goal since early in my career. I am excited & terrified now that I've actually taken the first leap...
We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.
Jim Henry did a lot for Midland. Can’t be overstated; hard to grasp the breadth of his generosity. Changed the world, one could argue, with his firm’s commercialization of the Wolfberry in the Midland Basin. Rest easy Mr. Henry

NYC is one of the most energy efficient places on earth. Density lowers per capita emissions significant. Much clear than somewhere like Boulder or Austin. Or anything in California.
Monthly reminder that the deeper Wolfcamp-Penn complex in the Delaware provides the planet Earth a lid on nat gas prices at about $3.44 until the sun blows up.

Aranda’s team isn’t good - but 1000x better than last year. Close to beating a good BYU team. Shouldn’t fire aranda for this. This team is better.

Here me out - that’s the best job in college football. Live in Belle Meade, make $5mm a year with no expectations for winning. Stay for a decade or two if you want. Excellent job. The best job in college football.

The woman in JFK on the left is wearing a blue blouse. In the prior photo tweeted by The Whote House she’s wearing a turquoise blouse. Is that the same woman?
Having one of those days (like many peers have had) where I don’t know what I’m doing, feel like a fraud, and this venture was a horrible mistake. Had a few days like this since August 1 and I guess it’s just part of it.
What does it imply that basin leaders like FANG are buying inventory in, arguably, not the best rock in the basin? It’ll make grease for sure. Probably good IRR next 8 quarters worth of drilling also… but what does it imply?
Hello dearest
@NCAA
Y’all fucked in the head not letting this guy play football because he is EFFECTIVELY TREATING HIS *SEIZURES* WITH DOCTOR PERMISSION

None of those people who said “learn to code” to the blue/no collar workers of the American Middle actually knew how to code. And now they’re all losing their jobs.
@Sammy_Roth
@dharnanoor
It’s absolutely not the wildest thing. What’s wild is that a bunch of republicans from Oklahoma and Texas drilled so many natural gas wells from 2000 to present that we actually reduced emissions more than any other single group in World History.

@joerogan
It’s the host’s show in his man cave bro. You go ask Snowden those questions if you want. He’s not a reporter he’s the guy from fear factor dude.
@davelevitan
Man, you either a) thoroughly do not understand the way the business operates, and it’s importance to your life, career and health; or b) this is satire.
@vanessa_vash
Did you know that oil is used to make electricity to desalinate water for tens of millions of people? Did you know that most of sub Saharan Africa would starve if it weren’t for oil fueled shipping and transportation of grains and other types of food and medicine? Do you care?
@SecDef
Uhhh what? Climate plans that include energy curtailment will directly, negatively impact our forces! We win wars with more energy resources, not less.
@SteveABC13
Actually the most powerful people in Harris County are the downstream companies responsible for this mess. THEY told city management that it was nothing to worry about.
Stupid Landman question: how can you have low porosity and low perm and still have a viable, economic, oil field? Massive hydrocarbon column? High pressure?
So yesterday sucked. But if you want to feel a little better about the way ahead for Energy (of all types), check out

Hard to describe to other industry participants, and observers, how important it is that a large Midland position will remain in the hands of a Midland institution. Explaining that goes all the way back to the 1880’s.
