I think the Nord Stream sabotage might be the largest methane “spill” in history. By my, and my team’s, estimates, this event emitted ~250,000 tons of pure methane (estimated average). At the 25x multiplier, that is 6.25 million tons of CO2, or ~6 years of Diamondback’s…

@JavierBlas this is what our industry is up against, no comprehension (or consideration) of economics or the market; false truths to the American people that the “greedy” oil companies are padding profits and raising prices. I’m sick of it

Let me say to the oil and gas companies and finance firms that back them: We understand that Putin’s war against the people of Ukraine is causing prices to rise. But that is no excuse for excess price increases, or padding profits, or any kind of effort to exploit this situation.

@JavierBlas Happy to share our report. If we cut US O&G prod'n to zero and allocated that prod'n proportionally to the rest of the world, then CO2E emissions from flaring would at least triple the US current CO2E. And the US is trending lower. #pickeringenergypartners

@liamdenning @bopinion I’m only seeing finger pointing from one side right now @liamdenning , with the administration painting a picture that we are “holding back” oil production and if we just turned a magic tap we could lower gas prices. There is a multi million barrel per day hole in global supply…

@jack Replace “Bitcoin mining” with “oil and gas production” and you have the exact issue faced by an industry that has been vilified by the US media

All great points, importantly: 1. Scope 1/2 emissions and methane are what oil companies can “control” and therefore reduce, and 2. Oil companies don’t have “customers”. What other business doesn’t spend $1 on marketing? Every barrel we produce is bought every day

1 of 10/ We badly need a new a narrative around climate and energy, if the goal is to have reliable, affordable energy the world needs with less CO2. The current “Oil is Evil and the New Tobacco” playbook, IMO, is driving a worst of all worlds outcome: Higher prices, Same CO2.

Really wonderful to see Dumb Money exploding on Netflix. It went under the radar in theaters, mainly because of the actor’s strike but it is finding its audience now. If the Oscar voting was next week instead of last week, I’m certain it would have racked up a lot of noms. :)

It’s a complicated dynamic: To mitigate the effects of global warming, we need to change agricultural practices. But food is already changing because of the warming climate.

@EnergyCynic Credit to these executives for keeping their cool in this situation. Imagine trying to put up with this stupidity and lack of basic economic understanding. But also, why not fight back? Guess there’s no upside when not dealing with a rational counterparty.
