So a bunch of years ago a friend joined a WW2 reenactment group. He’d done a lot of other periods and larp and still is an avid war gamer. (Thread).

Suffice to say that was the end of his adventures in WW2 reenactment and he sticks to ECW stuff instead. But it was interesting he found an actual neonazi group hiding out as SS reenactment, because it allowed them to flag their racism and still keep their jobs.

It was only when he realised the C18, AWB, Rhodesian and NF ‘relics’ amongst the period stuff might be a red flag 🚩 he’d done fucked up and was being hosted by the “White Wolves” a neonazi group who’s main claim to infamy was (wrongly) claiming the brick lane nail bomb.

Only to discover that they were more of a ‘living history’ type of thing. Complete with a HQ and beer hall in the upstairs of the pub. Slow on the uptake our hero starts to wonder if he’s wandered into something a bit more living Nazis than WW2 reenactment.

Airsoft weapons and repro uniforms had made WW2 reenactment a lot more accessible and he wanted to do a soviet enemy at the gates type thing. But it turned out his local soviet group were actually OPFOR to an SS group.

So ACW = American Civil War
ECW = English Civil War more properly the War of three kingdoms.
OPFOR = Opposing force in this case people dressed as WW2 Russians.
AWB South African Nazi party
NF = British National Front
C18 = Combat 18 a British Nazi paramilitary group

They also liked to dress up as the KKK and burn crosses and had apparently settled on WW2 reenactment after becoming not welcome as confederates at ACW events. Also playing SS was more ‘disciplined’ and there was fun stuff stuff for the women to do as female SS auxiliaries.

The training lead up on Rapier is way to long to be of utility to Ukraine. HVM has a minimal training time, is virtually undetectable to the aircraft that’s getting the good news and have decent ground effect. Also they overlap beautifully with stinger.

Decided to heat my house using tories. So I’ll be buying them up while there’s a surplus. They need air drying to be efficient but once they’ve been dried and made into pellets they are a great solid fuel and alternative to biomass pellets.
